How low can you go?

Hey I was wondering how low i could go with my 2002 Civ Ex, i have 215/35/18 tires on my car.

Eibach Sport line Kit 1.4" front, 1.4" rear for 197.78
B-G Suspension Springs for 1.6" 168.14
Goldline Springs GPS Series 1.75" for 155.70
Intrax Springs Sport F 1.8" R 1.8" for 197.25
Neuspeed Springs Race 2.0" F 2.0" R for 184.00
Tanabe Springs GF210 Grip Feeling (1.3in Front, 1.5in Rear) for 178.10
Tanabe Springs NF210 Normal Feeling (1.5in Front, 1.5in Rear) for 176.80

Which ones should i get? Which springs are the best for the best price?

hustlelikem0fo 04-27-2005 09:58 PM

you can go down more then 3 inches if you want.

ajhdragon 04-27-2005 10:00 PM

i have sprotlines on 205/40/17 and a full evo5 kit and im about 1 3/4 inches off the ground.

15seccivic 04-27-2005 10:03 PM

i have sprint racing 2'' drop and a full vis racing body kit and it sits pretty on some 18s... but i personally think the 17 looked better so its a personal choice

scatman 04-27-2005 10:03 PM

sportlines are nice, but now im a neuspeed fan.....ive ridden on both and the only difference ive noticed is basically the drop amount. it depends on how low you really wanna go....you have too broad of a range of springs, i think.

drew22mader 04-27-2005 10:10 PM

I was just listing the different springs offered and the amount they cost and how low they go. so would 2" make the car sit nicely down on the wheels without rubbing?

Do I have to buy new struts too?

You dont necessarily have to, but its reccommended with any drop as it puts more pressure on the stock shocks/struts which cant always hold up with the lower drops (usually anything more than 2" I think def. needs them)

mxcivic 04-27-2005 10:22 PM

how do u guys think whit look whit 19" and bodykit

scatman 04-27-2005 10:23 PM

more than 2 in = get struts

umm, anything 2" and over you may not fit 19's well

drew22mader 04-27-2005 10:24 PM

So would the 2.25 in the front and 2 in the back would be okay with stock struts? Would that drop look funny? Or should i get an even drop all the way around?

typeRDreamer 04-27-2005 10:46 PM

get the even drop all the way around it looks a lot better, unless you have people in the back a lot
then just get a lttle higher so ur exahsut doesnt scrap

mxcivic 04-27-2005 10:57 PM

im on 19" whit bodykit and i have a set of skunk2

drew22mader 04-27-2005 10:57 PM

So where is the best place to get springs at? All i'm finding from Neuspeed is 2.25" in the front and 2" in the back. No 2" all the way around.

drew22mader 04-27-2005 11:10 PM

Hey i found these, do these suck or they good? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...970940927&rd=1 or just these springs http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...970712742&rd=1

DANSCREATIONS uses these and wasn't for sure how they are.

ajhdragon 04-27-2005 11:23 PM

hmm i guess springs are springs, but dropzones suck. use the search button there are like 44850 people who had them and said so. i'd stick with tien, ebicah, or neuspeed. and springs will give you a better ride than coilovers.

drew22mader 04-27-2005 11:25 PM

Anyone know where i can get Neuspeed Springs with a 2" drop all the way around.

Honda Civic (01+) 2dr 4dr 2.0(F) 2.0(R)
Neuspeed Springs 55.20.68 239.95 184.00

These on horsepowerfreaks say 2 in front and rear but above the picture and description it says 2 and 1.75....What will this look like if its off set, can you notice or is there a spring that is 2" all the way around.

drew22mader 04-27-2005 11:44 PM

I bid on these, are these okay? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...970673931&rd=1

paradoxblue 04-27-2005 11:48 PM

yeah they look good. i wounlt mind those. and will make it easier to swap haha

Kizuel 04-28-2005 12:15 AM

Sorry to thread hijack, but what is the difference between a suspension kit and a coil-over kit? I thought a coil-over was the shock and spring.

orion_squall 04-28-2005 12:23 AM

hi,

seriously, if you want a performance increase with only spring, the only choice would be eibach prokit. Only 1" drop.

Any drop more than that can make handling dangerous without sport shock/strut.

drew22mader 04-28-2005 01:10 AM

Orion did you see what i bid on? After market struts with the shocks so now i won't have to worry about it, hopefully i will win it.

I saw it after, hehe...

Are those strut/shock actually just factory?

I worry some ebay seller simply took the whole thing off with a neuspeed spring on it and claim the whole strut/shock is "sport". Make sure.

Otherwise you are lucky!

eye_see_you 04-28-2005 09:33 AM

i'm running an ex with eaibach right now I was super low on my 17's i'm talking tucking not with my 18 , 215/35/18 i've got finger gap around

15seccivic 04-28-2005 10:50 AM

put the 2 different drops on and take pics i wanna see what that looks like cuz the ass end already sits higher than the front stock lol. check out my sticky if you wanna see my ride its kitted with 2" drop

beastiek2 04-28-2005 11:16 AM

I have a nice healthy drop on stocks w/ Tein SS

drew22mader 04-28-2005 03:21 PM

BeastieK2, did you just go with springs or did you do the coil overs?

The guy who i bid on his springs changed the shipping and I cancelled my bid, he said it was going to be free and now he says he can't do it.

What springs should I get, and how low should i go? 2" drop? Would 1.5" be enough?

Hurts2bStock 04-28-2005 03:36 PM

one thing to watch is the neuspeed races can blow your stock shocks if you ride um hard or drive on bumpy roads....

The more you lower your car the more you increase the spring rate and but way more pressure on the stock shocks.

Coilovers cost real cash, the easy way to tell them from sleaves when looking on ebay and different websites, and you get a whole new shock and spring together as one unit. This is the only way to drop your car to the ground aside from hydro's and bags.

Sleaves are called coilovers too, but they just ad height adjustibility to your stock shocks, even if your oem shocks hold..... the ride and handling get worse and worse as you go lower on oem shocks and struts.

drew22mader 04-28-2005 03:44 PM

So should I just do springs? What springs are good but not the most expensive? Someone said i don't want to go any lower than 2" on stock struts.

Hurts2bStock 04-28-2005 03:52 PM

Yeah even 2 is pushing it , but can work out fine if you dont drive to hard on the car, if you dont want to spend 8-900 bucks on new coilovers then go for some H&R's or some other german made spring and add a rear sway bar at the same time.

Our cars have an up hill battle to get them to "tuck" compared with say EK's and EG's and the best way to get a sleek look is to get a body kit and some larger wheels IMO

drew22mader 04-28-2005 03:56 PM

Yea i have 18's and hopefully this summer i will have my body kit on. I don't drive my car hard, and a good thing too is that they are redoing all the streets where i live so nice smooth ride.

Have you ever heard of Goldine springs? they have a 1.7" drop, then the H & R springs have a 1.3 all the way around.
