I need help picking a present for my boyfriend.

Alright, here's the deal. I want to get my boyfriend Matt some sort of present for his car. I would like it to be for the exterior if possible. He doesn't have anything done to it yet, so anything goes. I have no idea where to start, where to get stuff, or how much stuff costs. So I need help from you guys. I would like to keep the cost around $500, as it is a "just because" gift, so I think that is pretty generous. Please help out and give me ideas. Thank you.

eye_see_you 03-18-2005 02:05 PM

suspension, lights, hmm even new tires if anything

ex_03 03-18-2005 02:14 PM

You can get em a radio amp and sub for around that, maybe installed. cold air intake and exhaust. rims and tires. Take your pick. Check www.ebay.com just type in the make and year of his car in the search engine and check with the people in here before buying!!!.

Day_Tripper 03-18-2005 02:16 PM

A drop... it will make the car look 10x better

blackBDMcivicLX 03-18-2005 02:17 PM

Another thing, he refuses to put a body kit on unless he gets rims first.

teampointless 03-18-2005 02:36 PM

V-TECH stickers!!! no, just kidding.

matrix311 03-18-2005 02:43 PM

buy a factory spoiler from spoilerdepot.com and maybe a set of HID headlamps if he doesn't have any of those. That should cost around $500 for both of those and would make a great appearance mod for it, nothing drastic just a nice clean look.

SmiteSwift 03-18-2005 02:56 PM

Is the car tinted? I know it's not $500, but tint is nice.

yeah, the car is tinted already. Sorry, I should have mentioned that. And he has a new exhaust too.

SmiteSwift 03-18-2005 03:01 PM

Well, since it's winter and he probably wouldn't change wheels now. Get him the rims and let him save for tires in spring.

Caucasian.Asian 03-18-2005 03:06 PM

maybe see how much $ infinite012 can do a retrofit for? i would LOVE that. :sweet:

MyK 03-18-2005 03:12 PM

you don't have to buy him anything, its what you give him on his b-day that makes you a good GF.

somebody had to say it!

PunkingCivic 03-18-2005 03:20 PM

a APEXi world sport exhaust.

alberta_si 03-18-2005 03:23 PM

rims is great idea!!!!!!!!! but other wise black car looks great with dark donut style tails... then he can black out head lights him self for about 10$ ( DIY) then get eibach sportline springs all this for LESS then 500 and would look amazing!!! but just the idea of buying him a present for his car is great my girl friend would never buy car related stuff... so thums up!!!

I think the HID idea would be best, it keeps things very simple and clean plus everyone wants HIDs, its just the thing :)
You can't really buy a guy rims because everyone has a diffrent style.
Body mods in general are a diff preferance between people.

She said she wants something for the exterior.
Well, that doesn't leave much...
-Drop
-Headlights
-Tail Lights
-Rims ( which I dont think she should get him )
-Tires ( No point since you should get them with the rims )
-Body Kit ( Too much choice and everyone has their own preferance )
-Exhaust ( He already has one )
-Intake ( Well its not really exterior, but does make a great mod )
-Carbonfiber Hood (Again, nice but you really need to find out if he would want to do such a mod )
-Side markers (nice and simple, adds a little safety )

I think I mentioned everything that you can really get for the exterior unless you want to shave his trunk ;) <-- that sounds a little erotic

AlienX 03-18-2005 03:44 PM

Oh I forgot mirrors :) Some M3s would be good, and fenders.. you can also do that much those kind of mods are left last.

FYI to everyone: He already has a fac spoiler.

PunkingCivic 03-18-2005 04:02 PM

Carbon fiber hood or trunk

AlienX 03-18-2005 04:04 PM

one last thing i forgot, but its a tad ricey... Underbody LEDs or Neons..

Octane Joe 03-18-2005 04:46 PM

DIY tools and supplies are always helpful and it will give him somthing to do... just my .02

SIinthesky 03-18-2005 05:05 PM

Well....if you want to stick with exterior....

JDM black housing headlamps
Carbon fiber hood....I wouldnt do a trunk unless you got the hood already
H.I.D. kit
Different spoiler
Rims would be good too...but can get pricey
stickers...LED washer nozzles.....(just playin)

dejuw 03-18-2005 07:01 PM

i would get a set of springs to drop the car first and then the other comes later, like hid, grille, etc.. in the budget range :)

civic01vtec 03-18-2005 07:19 PM

how bout a hooker and get a 3some going ....

anyways......... spend it towards a drop

goodtimes 03-18-2005 07:21 PM

I'd love new seats.. my back.. oy.. lol

PennyKnotOff 03-18-2005 09:17 PM

Get some springs. Eibachs sport or pro-kit depending on his preference and a camber kit. Probably cost around $350 depending on where you shop.

Jeromie 03-18-2005 09:50 PM

i just have to say i wish my girlfriend be more like u

paradoxblue 03-18-2005 09:53 PM

..do you have a sister.. :|

stroked_monkey 03-18-2005 09:54 PM

get him some nice lowering springs and a short shifter, those two things will make it a different car, plus its a good tade off for looks and performance

xX03EXx 03-18-2005 10:09 PM

Clear his lights for him and black out the housings (that'll cost about 10 bucks).

Next get him some springs ($150)

Then an altezza style grill as seen in my sig ($50)

Paint his engine cover for him ($5) see my avitar

Short ram intake ($90)

Debadge his car for him (free)

Short throw adapter ($50)

Camber kit ($150)

and there you have it, the best way to get the most outa $500.

repaint the trunk and have it shaved? :)

ncook21 03-19-2005 01:01 PM

i got mine for 325 shipped. contact the member on here named impulse. they are just awesome, and it took like 3 days to get here. very good service.

blackBDMcivicLX 03-19-2005 05:19 PM

What is the least amount I could pay for a drop but still have it be a smooth ride for him?

PennyKnotOff 03-19-2005 05:21 PM

Depends on how low. I got my eibachs prokit for $130 and the ride is great w/ stock shocks

PennyKnotOff 03-19-2005 05:28 PM

Eibachs Sportline
Here's a good price on the eibachs sportlines, great drop and plenty of people have them so they could give you feedback of ride quality

pnoyster2k1cvic 03-19-2005 07:08 PM

you should ask VIPER... he got this blue toy from his GF and boy, he loves that thing more than anything :hgrin:

mugenman 03-19-2005 08:12 PM

get him tint and some hids or maybe a set of rims or something

Octane Joe 03-19-2005 08:30 PM

I got neuspeed springs for my car off ebay (no spamming please, if you know what you want it is still a good tool) for like 115 shipped, my car has NO wheel gap and the ride is IMO smoother that stock... till the shocks go... lol

http://home2.owc.net/~mojow/civic/pics/rims.jpg

ciVictoria 03-19-2005 10:51 PM

I would say some HID's or some lowering springs.
