Lexus IS300 vs. Nissan 350Z

Okay guys. I have decided to trade my vic in for one of these cars mentioned in the title. The thing is I want a stick so I can't get the 2001 Lexus because they were all automatic so 2002 would be my pick. On the other hand the 350Z's were made since 2003. I am asking you guys to tell me which one should i go for. 2002 Lexus IS300 or 2003 Nissan 350Z. 2002 Lexus IS300 5Spd ~220hp for around $22k vs. 2003 Nissan 350Z 6spd ~280hp for around 23k. If any of you have owned one of these or both please post your opinion. I really can't decide. THNX.

350Z for sure man

slvrcivic 03-16-2005 12:13 PM

I say IS for sure.

But it depends on what your plans for it are. The IS is the supra in baby form. 2jz engine + boost is very nice. Lexus quality owns all as well. But it all depends on what you plan on doing with it.

Hurts2bStock 03-16-2005 12:14 PM

depends on what ya do, and how long you want to own it......350 is never gonna hold up like a lexus.....and the 350 will never be a good car to cart around a dog or kids.

the lex would make a much more practical choice, but wheres the fun in that....take the 350!

Logan3024 03-16-2005 12:16 PM

if you can get the 350z for 23k you better do it! as long as its under 16k miles. My friend just picked up a base 04 (leftovers) for 27k plus change.

I know.....lol....but the average american wage is the same as in canada, so saving up 20 grand USD wont take them any longer than for us to save up 20 grand CAN

Hurts2bStock 03-16-2005 12:33 PM

Average Canadian workers earns $30,200 compared with $29,076 for average Americans. Average Americans take home two percent more of their gross wage than Canadians - 26% vs 28% . But higher wages give Canadians a slight edge, $24,764 to $24,424.

Thanks Google...

Pharoh 03-16-2005 12:33 PM

to be in debt over your head is the American Way....you can approved for just about anything regardless.....just pay stupid high interest. Feck...they let you use personal cheques at grocery stores...lol.

350 Zzz

joe6680 03-16-2005 12:44 PM

I say get the IS you'll save 1000.00 put that money in a turbo fund. Then when the time comes turbo it.

jeffsta17 03-16-2005 12:58 PM

350 Z....I want one too

QBoi 03-16-2005 01:02 PM

Lexus IS300 :)

blouisgod 03-16-2005 01:10 PM

im more of a fan of the IS 300

lostid 03-16-2005 01:12 PM

350z is 110% totally pimp. If your gonna get it go with the Le Mans Sunset. In the sun that color is like"BANG!".lol

gotarheels03 03-16-2005 01:48 PM

IS300 no question. Its the top luxury car in every reliability study pretty much every year. Awesome interior, and of course much more plush than a 350Z. The car looks awesome (too bad the new IS looks like shit), great resale value should you ever look to sell it, and it can be made fast much easier than a 350Z Ive heard of 2JZ-GE's with upwards of 700HP on the stock block, and at least one with just under 1000. Its a little underpowered in stock form, but that can be easily fixed.

CIVIKRACIN 03-16-2005 02:07 PM

is300
go to visionboy.com and look at the vids os his is300 and im pretty sure youll agree

gotarheels03 03-16-2005 02:13 PM

oh hell yeah, that car is sick.

vietzboi87 03-16-2005 02:26 PM

is 300

pnoyster2k1cvic 03-16-2005 02:34 PM

i would go with IS300... looks good and quick... 350z is just another beetle to me!

R1Style 03-16-2005 02:40 PM

I'd go with the IS300... good starting platform (gotta love the 2jz). Not to mention it'll probably be cheaper on insurance.

PacSmalls 03-16-2005 02:40 PM

wow i would have said 350z but after watching those vids on the is300 that is just plain sick....awesome.

Nick 03-16-2005 02:40 PM

IMO IS300 is played out. Even though everyone and their mom has a 350z, i would still pick it.

white2K2EX 03-16-2005 03:03 PM

All the cars in the Z line just do something for me. I wouldn't get a first-year 350Z though, considering they had suspension problems and I'm not sure Nissan adequately fixed all of them. I'd go for a 2004 at least.

ASWZero 03-16-2005 03:09 PM

They messed up the gearing on the IS300. its too tall and not quick enough. my friend has a 98 non-turbo VVt-i Supra. i know how quick that motor can be. its all in the gearing. get the Z if you want a quick car.... but then again, sedans are soo sexy

baggedblue02 03-16-2005 03:20 PM

I love my IS
my advice will be biased

dirtySAMURAI 03-16-2005 03:32 PM

350z if you like very road-race like suspension, and quick acceleration.
is300 if you like smooth, lexus suspension, and slower acceleration (when compared to the z). also take in to account that the '03 350z had suspension, tire, and transmission problems.

Jrfish007 03-16-2005 03:41 PM

IS 300... much nicer dialy driver, I've driven both. 350 isn't bad, but I never liked the intrument panel. Plus I've always found inline 6's to be far better than V6's for a better balanced car and motor. Both have the ability to produce far more power than you can ever use on the road.
