Is it Possiable

Is it possiable to get the headlights out to clear them without removing the front bumper?

dirtySAMURAI 03-11-2005 03:32 PM

sure. just rip dem bishes out. you'll have to buy new headlights afterwards though.

AzNmiKex215 03-11-2005 03:33 PM

nope. just take the bumper off. its easy. If you dont think you have the ability to, you shouldnt trust yourself heating up and opening headlights.

SOHC 03-11-2005 03:36 PM

i dont know if its possiable, but i DO know that it is possible, yes.

you do have to partially remove it though- at least the top section.

just remove the black plastic "screws" just above the upper grille (under hood), and the screws (one on each side) in the wheel well holding the front bumper on. you have to pull outward (away from the car) on the bumper over by where u take the wheel well screws out.. then once thats loose- you can pry around he headlights, and at the upper grille. it will be akward to get the lights off, you need a wrench extension, and lots of patience. i was never able to put back the bottom screws on my headlights though. maybe better off taking the bumper all off. its only like 4 more screws anyway.

taking the front bumper off is cake... after doing it a few times... its really not that hard... go for it!!

suthrninca 03-11-2005 04:21 PM

It's easy. I've taken mine off 5 or 6 times, now I can do it in less than 5 min.

dirtySAMURAI 03-11-2005 05:46 PM

i have like 10 of those black push clip things that came from my front bumper. whenever i take my bumper off i always have at least 2 more clips. then honda replaces them for me :)

AzNmiKex215 03-11-2005 06:04 PM

You can actlaly take the headlights off without completely removing the bumper. THe catch is you have to do one side at a time and have a nice long 10 inch extension for your ratchet to get the bottom bolt of the headlight.

Just remove the top plastic flat head clips. Remove the wheel well screw and pull the bumper off on that side only. Let the bumper hang just enough to get the bottom headlight bolt off.

Michalo187 03-11-2005 06:14 PM

Just remove it if you want the job done right

AlienX 03-11-2005 06:24 PM

it makes it 10 times easier to when you remove the bumper.
And it really is a 3-5min job to remove it.

JCiv03 03-11-2005 06:42 PM

removing the bumper is not too hard. Once you know what to do, it should only take 10 mins

dirtySAMURAI 03-11-2005 08:46 PM

10 minutes? it takes me less than 1 minute.

exclusive_vtec 03-12-2005 09:13 AM

no u cant clear em unless u take off ur front bumper

ncirom2003 03-12-2005 09:15 AM

if you know how to turn a wrench you have no excuse to mickey mouse the job. just take off the bumper

MiamiUgen7 03-12-2005 11:05 AM

Not to my knowledge. When I did mine, there were bolts hidden behind the bumper connecting it to the fender.

Importracer 03-12-2005 01:46 PM

id recommend that you disconnect you negative battery terminal too just incase you hit the SRS sensor with the wrench or something...

blue2k2ex 03-12-2005 02:36 PM

The reason I ask is because my front bumper isn't stock and it's more of a pain in the ass to take off then the stock. Thinking of selling my body kit and putting my stock bumpers back on for this reason it makes everything more difficult.. Thanks guys

Nodnero 03-12-2005 02:37 PM

I'll keep it sweet and simple: NO.

Use the DIY thread, its easy as fjck to take the bumper off. Plus, Im not sure if anybody else has mentioned, but you dont have to put all the bolts back in thus increased weight savings!!! Weight reduction kit stage 0.03!!! :sweet:
