BIG FAVOR NEEDED from owners of 04/05 civic coupe ex owners
 

I think my dealer is overcharging me! He quoted me $16085 for the above mentioned vehicle in 5 speed.

This does not include tax/destination/dmv fees! With all fees he wants $18,119.75 (not including registration fee because he had to locate the vehicle - $515 transportation, 1431.75 sales tax, $30 state inspection, $12.50 tire tax, $45 dealers optional fee for proccessing application for registration and/or certificate of title) for a 2005 honda civic coupe ex 5 speed in satin silver metallic(i wanted it in black but he claims NOONE in the tristate area has it, blue was my second option but i didnt like the interior color), so my silver civic will be arriving saturday morning from long island!)

So after seeing some of the prices other members have been paying, I was a little unhappy :hithead: :hithead: :hithead: :hithead: :hithead:

I told him that i had a "Friend" who got the same car with automatic transmission for $17000 OTD! You figure the auto tranny is a 1000 option and I should be paying $16000 not $18,119.75

This is where you guys come in....he told me that if i can get a copy of my "friends" invoice that he would match it!. So to all owners of 2004 or 2005 honda civic coupe ex 5speed or auto cars, i would really appreciate it if you can scan me a copy of your full invoice with the cost of the car and all fees listed on it!

don't think u can get a new civic of the current year (aka, buying 05 in 2005) with 17g for ex auto. i paid 18ish out the door when i got my 02 in 2001. i think it the dealer is really ripping u off. its just normal price.

Yea I paid $16.8 for my 04 EX fully loaded with all the garbage. I traveled to upstate NY to buy it, the ISLAND was like 2k more expensive.

I paid 16200 out the door for a 02 ex 5sp and it wasnt easy.

I cant find my invoice but in march of 04 i paid 16,200 otd for my 04 ex coup 5 speed. no fogs or areo kit or spoiler with that it would have been like 18,000

thanks for all of your responses guys but i need a copy of the invoice otherwise my salesman wont believe me he said anyone can say they paid $xxxxx for their car but it sounds like thissalesman is really taking me to the cleaners trying to charge me $18119 + dmv fees for this car!

btw civic 04 does that include tax, destination and dmv fees? did u buy in state? I cant believe this dealer is trying to charge me $2000 more!

i paid 18.5 for my vic, its an 04, i bought it when it first came out in oct of 03

You really gota research on the net, get list prices and go to different dealers. Here in upstate NY the dealers seem pretty competive. I got mo 03 DX with only air. Wanted a Red one,so the dealer went and picked one up in eastern CT-n/c!
No bullsh#t fees or anything on a base car! They even threw in floor mats and wheel locks for n/c.
Look around!

i work for American Honda Motors and i have the real price for the car when it comes from the factory.

EX Civic 05 15,104 plus 515 for destination fee.
EX SE Civic 05 18,921 with the destination fee.

the dealership tax a extra 1000 when it gets to the dealership. that the invoice price for you. thats what they tell you. 15,104 plus 1000 they add. $16,104.
then they tax another 1000 on top of that price and say it 17,104. that how they come up with that 17,104 amount.

i work in Irving tx at the parts distribution center. i have a 05 Civic EX SE and i got mine for 15,921 with the destination fee.

Sorry, I don't have my invoice available, but I paid 16,250 for an 04 EX coupe automatic with side airbags. 18+ is quite high for an EX. I didn't buy mine at the end of the year or on sale anything either. This was just the plain old every day price.
If this guy wants to charge you that much, go somewhere else. Travel a couple hundred miles if you have too.

when you guys list the price do you guys mean the "out the door" price? my definition of "out the door" price is all costs included....this would be the base cost + destination + tax + ALL FEES including title registration.....are the prices you guys giving the "out the door price" ?

The destination charge is a bunch of shart... just another way for the dealer to make some more money on the deal. I paid 15,3 for my 04 EX, granted it's a manual. You're also somewhat in the beginning of the model year so you should expect to be paying a little more.

I got my Ex 5spd 04 for 15,200.

i paid $21,487 for my 05 civic ex-se, which includes all the charges plus extended warrenty and free oil change/tire rotation with no money down.

i paid 18k OTD with my 04 auto ex, but thats when they first came out. Honestly just go to another dealer. Its a civic, they make like a million a yr or something. Best way is just go to edmunds.com put in your zip code and get quotes from other dealers and just have the guy your talkin to right now match it.

if i were him, i'd rather make $1k less profit and give it to at 17k otd then make no money at all.

$18,218.61 here for my 04 auto ex.

Remember that everyones price also varies due to state taxes/fees. California is pretty steep with the add-ons, in fact a co-worker of mine went up to Oregon to buy his tC.

I paid 16 for mine... but that was near the end of the model year, which means they want to sell the cars they have to get the new ones on the lot. So it was cheaper. You won't get an 05 for that much.

To the American Honda guy, if you know so much about cars, then you should know exactly why you paid so little, well theres 2 reasons,

#1. Our cars are cheaper in Texas, the actual car itself will be very close to the same price, but the option packages are always cheaper in Texas, ALWAYS, sometimes when comparing to the East Coast, the package prices can be as much as 50% cheaper than here in the lone star state....

#2. Your "Dealer Tax" of $1,000, that is not a tax per say, that is what is called the hold back, the dealer makes an agreement with American Honda, or Chevy, or Ford (whichever dealer it is, they all do it) that they can raise the price of the car a specific amout not always $1,000 so that should the dealer sell that car in the first 90 days that they have it, they will get that $1,000 as a bonus per say. Majority of the time, the "holdback" is not $1,000, usually closer to $600 but sometimes way more, (ex. 04 Ford F350 Duallie Diesel, holdback= $2200). The whole point of the holdback is so that the dealer will try to sell the car quickly to keep more new inventory rollin in...

To the guy buyin the car, I would try talkin to a dealer here in TX if you want a new 05, like I said, the cars are cheaper here, so you could just fly down to TX and pick up your new ride and have a fun lil mini vacation drivin it back home....

Btw, I sold cars for about 2 years, was an Internet Sales Manager for 2 diff Ford and a Dodge dealer, and worked in the back office of a Chevy Dealer, I know what I'm talking about...
