diablo69 02-18-2005 07:21 PM

sweet dood, what kinda paint you use?

Caucasian.Asian 02-18-2005 07:40 PM

krylon white primer, krylon silver paint, and krylon clear acrylic for the clear coat.

GreatWhite02 02-18-2005 07:53 PM

did you remove the whole dash and ac vent pieces or did you just mask off the surrounding areas?

JDm7thGen 02-18-2005 07:54 PM

im sure he removed it
who would paint inside their car....overspray would get everywhere....

Caucasian.Asian 02-18-2005 07:59 PM

yeah, i removed EVERYTHING. the only thing i masked off was the pocket of the dash. i didn't wanna try and paint the inside of it and get the paint running.

allmotor 02-18-2005 08:05 PM

looks nice. How long did it take

Caucasian.Asian 02-18-2005 08:07 PM

like 2 1/2 hours including taking everything apart and putting it back together.

isuzu5000 02-18-2005 09:12 PM

wow...i let mine dry over night. in the pics ur dash looks white.
can you take closer shots of em...i wanna see what the clear coat looks like.
thanks

i8dabomb 02-18-2005 09:14 PM

is it smooth like glass or would you recommend either buying or renting a spray gun?

againifall 02-18-2005 09:19 PM

looks good.. welcome to the painted dash club :)

what about the piece around the cluster?

Vinyl dye works good too, i sprayed mine and it really smooth and never peel or cracked.

Akutenshi 02-18-2005 09:51 PM

looks good man  i was thinking about painting mine silver too, when i had that alpine 7893.

take some better pics tho, haha it does look white

chicohonda02 02-18-2005 10:02 PM

Lokks tight. Nice addition!

Caucasian.Asian 02-19-2005 02:46 AM

i'll try and get some better pictures tomorow with the light hitting it. i think the only reason it look white is because its a light silver and my pda doesn't take the best pics in the world, but if you were to see it in person you wouldn't mistake it for being white.
the only reason i used the clear coat is to add a little protection from minor scratches. you can see it shine a little when the light hits it, but i really just wanted it to help protect the paint.

Those pics make me wIsh I would have painted my dash instead of buying a glue on kit

lol
i did it because 1. it was cheaper and 2. you don't have those huge black gaps between areas.

civicPesek 02-19-2005 03:01 AM

how did you take them off?

DaRk_MauL 02-19-2005 03:15 AM

Caucasian.Asian 02-19-2005 10:08 AM

^looks good. i'm thinking about getting it repainted as the color of of my car also when i get my grill and eyelids painted, but i have to see how much more they would charge me. if its not much i'm gonna do it.

Whose willing to trade trims with me? Everything painted silver on the dash: Two vents, silver cover around the bezel, and the trim where the HU goes, all for your stock trims. This is posted in the SoCal section... Don't know how we would trade if we're in different parts of the coutry... maybe you guys have better ideas...

for the vents...they just pop off by using a screw driver...but use a clothe to put around the head. then...just unscrew the pieces of the vent.
for the console...take out the little sqare's next to your cigarette lighter plug and then look in side...you should see two bolts. unsrew those and a little bit of pushing here and a little bit up tugging there...you've got it out. then just unplug and unscrew everything.

zachgeyer 02-20-2005 02:54 AM

clean!

DaRk_MauL 02-21-2005 10:41 AM
