JDM means Japanese Domestic Market. the integra is "JDM Conversion" style because of the front clip (Front end bascially). in America, the USDM Integra has the little circle headlights. In Japan however, the Integra has the thin bar-style headlights as shown in the pictures (silver integra, black rims). You cant buy a USDM integra with the JDM front end unless the conversion is done (hood, bumper, headlights among other things).

so bascially its called "JDM this" or "JDM that" in that its unavailable in the US and IS available in Japan for the same car, blah blah blah.

Its not 04 tails and its not smoked. He switch the wires so that the turn signal would be the parking light and the break light and now the horse is turn signal.

injencivic 02-20-2005 12:15 AM

:_ontome:

i did not know that! sounds nice and i might have to try it

DIY 01-03 Tailights, 2 methods

yea you can do it like that... but thats not what i did... I did method 1...

METHOD 1:
1. Switch the Brake Bulb into the Signal Housing... (the small brake bulb needs to be held in place... you can use electrical tape... and it should be the Super 88 kind so that it won't get messed up in hot weather/cold weather, etc...)
2. Switch the Signal Bulb into the Brake housing... (Brake light housing must be cut bigger to accomodate the big Signal Bulb. This can be done with a small saw)

Now when I turn on my lights, no more horseshoe effect.

This method requires no rewiring, just cutting of the housing...

End result: the horseshoe only lights up when signaling... signal housing lights up when turning on parking lights/headlights AND it lights up when braking...

http://www.7thgencivic.com/memberrid...edoemtails.jpg
Above is a pic of the parking lights/headlights on... when I brake, the signal housing (the one thats lit up in the picture) will light up brighter and the 3rd brake light will light up...

Here's the Left turn signal on..
http://www.7thgencivic.com/memberrid...ailssignal.jpg

---------------------------------------------
METHOD 2:
Now, there is another way to do this, it doesn't require cutting of the housing, you LEAVE THE BULBS IN PLACE, but you just cut the wiring and re-wire... this is the way yourinmyw0rld was talking about...

1. Look at the brake light bulb wiring... there should be 3 wires... 1 ground and 2 positives... 1 positive activates the parking light(when you turn on your headlights), and the other activates your brake light(when you brake)... cut the one that activates your brake light... make sure you leave some slack for re-wiring later

2. Look at the signal light bulb wiring there is only 2 wires, 1 positive and 1 ground... cut the positive, again leave some slack

3. Take the positive that activates your brake light and wire it to the signal light bulb... so that when you brake, your signal bulbs will light up...

4. Now take the positive that activates your signals and wire it to the brake light, the one you just cut... so when you signal, the horseshoe will blink...

so basically, your just swapping positive wires...

End result: Horseshoe still lights up when turning on parking lights/headlights AND now lights up when signaling... on the other hand, signal housing lights up ONLY when braking...

It will look like a jetta or mercedes...

------

I didn't do method 2 because I didn't like the ugly horseshoe lighting up all the time...

R1Style 02-20-2005 10:13 PM

I have this done myself too.

yup... except i didn't cut... I just grabbed a pair of vice grips and broke those 4 tabs off... the bulb fits perfect.
Oh and I got rid of the side lights... doesn't flow with the top portion.. I made it come on when I throw it in reverse.

I see... that works too... so you can either cut the housing, or cut the tabs off the bulb...

and the side lights... thats a pretty good idea... i think i might do that

oh no... i didn't cut the tabs off the bulbs... i cut those tabs off the housing. You know those 4 locking tabs? I just broke them off... worked good and broke off clean...

As for the side lights... yeah I didn't like how they looked when my tail lights were on. So I cut the lead wire and tapped it to the reverse wire.

Day_Tripper 02-21-2005 12:43 AM

looks like I have a project for tomorrow thanx guys
