Clearing Headlights (Funny - laugh at my demise) Let me share my LONG story of how I deal with a simple burnt out headlight bulb! Sit down. Relax. Enjoy my frustration: Last night my girlfriend and I were "making up" for all the arguing we did this week. So i got hungry and decide to go to arbys. As soon as I pull out she notices the passanger light is burnt out. So I run home quick to change it. I open the hood and sure enough the bulb is toasted AND the wire/screw holding it in (Sedan) is gone. So I was thinking...Im not taping a headlight bulb in to place. Then I decided to put in the cleared headlights I had bought a while ago but never decided to put in yet since my parents would be nervous with a civic bumper lieing around the house. 45 minutes later... http://www.7thgencivic.com/memberrid...4clearing1.JPG no jack stands makes this a wonderful experience! Well all is well i thought. I ate some pizza the girlfriend made since arbys was now closed, then I got back to work. Unscrewing the headlights was easy. I put in the H4 bulbs and made sure everything looked ok. I then proceeded to attempt to put in the driving and turn signal bulbs. :_doh: The coupe bulb holders are different sizes than the sedan ones and I have a sedan and cleared coupe housings. I had no other choice but to get out the old duct tape and tape the 7443 bulb into place. Then I found the small 168 bulb holders from the coupe. I switched the bulbs from the sedan into the coupe holders and tested everthing. Luckily it all lit up. And luckily I didnt need to tape these bulbs in also. Time passed: 1.5 hours including trip to walmart for pizza and orange bulbs...no luck on the bulbs though. http://www.7thgencivic.com/memberrid...aring3-med.JPG Next I put the second headlight housing in, bolted it all up and took a deep breath. I also decided that my new grill might look ok unpainted, so i put it on. That took 15 minutes (damn plastic clips) After all this I put the bumper back on. The thing is easy to put on by the fenders and grill and headlights but the bolts on the bottom are set up horribly and make no sense until you and your 3 friends finally figure out how they go back in. After all the bullsh*tting around and fun with making fun of my car's bumper we finally finished. Here are some finished pics. Hey I only ended up with two extra parts. The funnies part of this long story... One of the small plastic tabs flew between the exhaust pipes and the cover so my car now smokes and smells like burnt plastic and will for another week or so. Ill clean it today and get clean pics later for you guys. http://www.7thgencivic.com/memberrid...aring4-med.JPG http://www.7thgencivic.com/memberrid...aring6-med.JPG http://www.7thgencivic.com/memberrid...aring7-med.JPG http://www.7thgencivic.com/memberrid...aring8-med.JPG |
Nice work. *Note: From experience, I'm telling you, spend all that time and money on your car, not your girl. Five years down the road you'll thank me. |
now all you need is to paint your grille trim piece thats chrome on the hood paint it to match your car it will look much better |
looks good, if you want, you should paint them black and put the orange inserts back in.but looks good still |
yeah and i got eyelids too they will be painted all in the spring/summer. If the lambo doors fall through and never happen all this money im saving up will let me get everything painted so no problems. For now this is an improvement over the stock grill. And to ati9700pro... I hate the orange piece with a passion. And since the grill will get painted one day im not painting the housings at all. They are good now...just waiting for better weather to get the eyelids and grill painted. |
i hate the amber as well with fvcking horrid passion. but trust me, with the amber piece on, paint the housing black except the back of the amber piece. damn that's HOT. |
hey, like i said, whatever you want |
lol..........should have let me know.......i could have helped you |
