constant squeak

I have a squeak coming from my front end.

At first I thought it was the brakes, but now I am not sure.
It doesn’t just happen while braking.
It happens anytime I am changing speed, accelerating, decelerating,
or braking. Especially when the car is cold.

It's not overly loud but I can hear it when my windows are down.

Any guesses on what it is.

And, one more thing, I am going to change the brakes anyway, the mechanic who balanced my tire said they were getting low, so I will let you know if that’s the whole problem
.

is there no one out there who can help me

UNORTHODOX02 02-05-2005 08:25 PM

it could be the belts, check them out.

I could hear a little bit of squeaking before from my front end too. It went away after my brakes were changed though. I think it was because part of my brake pad was melted onto something? My sister must've been doing some CRAZY sh*t before she gave me her car... :susp:

it doesnt make the noise at idle , or even if i rev the engine at a stand still.
just when i am moving

well, i changed the brake pads.
the squeak went away, i figure that it was the little clip that is on the piston side pad that was making the noise so that you know that you are low on pad.

i wasnt sure how to break them in, but i remembered that you are supposed to accelerate to 30 then lightly break to 5, then repeat increasing speed slowly.

i did that but when i got back they were smoking a little,
so now i have a new question, is that normal for new pads, or did i do something wrong?
