blacking out taillights

well seriously considering doing this.... but i have a question... did you all tape the outside of the lights so that you can still see the led effect? I want people to still see that effect.. Just wondering how it could be done.. and yes i looked a the DIY...

Taping it off should work...I just did the whole thing...

I would think it will still have the same effects, just darker.

ya but it would have more of the effect if it was taped IMO...

you painted the outside of the tailights correct?
