To Members Using Factory Pocket with Aftermarket Head Unit Hello, Ive seen some of 7thgencivic.com pics and quite a few of you use the pocket that came factory with the 7thgen civic. To be more specific, I mean the pocket under the stereo. My question is how do you guys use the factory pocket with an aftermarket head unit. I liked how the pics turned out and Id rather have a cover than not. Any advice would be helpful thanks, |
when you install a after market HU you need to buy and install kit, unless its a custom install. the install kit holds the aftermarket HU and has a pocket underneath. here----> http://www.tune-town.com/Cars/stuff/...onda_Civic.htm is that what you are talking about??? |
shop around at some audio shops and ask for the one that lets you keep the original pocket.. it should be around the same price as the others.. I think one of the name brands that makes it is metra.. it'll just be the top portion and u connect it with the pocket that came with ur car. |
I think he's talking about the one that lets you keep the Door for the pocket |
^oh, i never had the door so idk. i don't like the door |
on the site that was given, that is a decnet price for what is given ill have to remember that sight, but what is the difference in faceplates, im planning on getting an alpine 9831 headunit, and all it does it looks like one is for filled in or something, no description changes |
30 bucks is a decent price!!!! Mine was like 5 bucks! |
^^yeah, i got mine for $15. i just gave that because it was the first to pop up |
there isn't one, pull out the stock head unit and you can keep the door, a normal hu fits in there fine. |
damn asian, that pic looks freaky. It scared my friend. Hes a lil punani. ANyways, I was talking about the top rack that lets me keep my stock bottom pocket. For some reason, when I went around looking for it, all I found was the one that replaces the bottom part. Now, ive seen some members here have i t looking really clean. Ive tried just using pocket and fitting HU on top, but it looks nasty because you can see the insides. Ive seen couple photos here showing a kit that lets u keep the bottom stock pocket while adding a perfect for the aftermarket HU. Can anyone tell me where I can get this peice? Im using a alpine 7893 model. thanks, |
^^post a picture and the link of the person and will help more. i don't think i've ever seen what you're talking about. |
|
yea i said it was a decent price cause it included both the harness and dash kit most other places are liek 10 - 15 for each, and there is a difference in quality from what i hear, so you get what you pay for |
I think he is looking for this kit: http://www.audiooutfitter.com/store/99-7897.html |
thanks alot, Ill order the part from audiofitter. Hope it will fit my my HU |
Ok, I ordered the part. Now Im putting my aftermarket cd player with the hybrid dash kit. I ordered the same kit that I was told to order. My question is: After I put in the hybrid installation kit, will the stock honda civic pocket below fit without the metal thinng to hold it in place. I lost the stock metal piece that held the stock cd player and pocket. Can anyone let me know asap?> thanks |
steal one |
I dont think so? Dont you already have a piece like that around your cd player? I have one of those, but couldnt resuse my piece below (what Best Buy told me :susp: :shake: ). I dont think they know though. They were just a free install, since I didnt want to mess with taking out my old system, and putting it back in. Now I would do it all myself. I wasnt as smart as I am now with stereos. I should try it, but I dont think it will fit. i have been wondering this as well for quite some time. I need to go to my dads and find it. |
Looks like you got your question answered, but here is another thread where there was some discussion on this as well. Just as an added reference... http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=181213 |
so do I need the metal peice that the stock cd player came with in order to fit the metra hybrid kit and my factory pocket? |
