painted my interior trim tonight

well.. some of it anyway.. so far just the gauge piece, side vents and the cover pannels you have to take off to remove the vents.. tomorrow im gunna go for the part around the head unit, the piece around the shifter and the lil flip down door over the cup holders.. im thinkin of doin the lil boot piece on the emergency brake but im not sure if that will be too much.. so we will see

i found a blue that "matches" the flecks in the nighthawk black paint.. even my mom likes it so far..

ill post some pics tomorrow.. it was too dark to take any tonight...

dre2600 11-29-2004 12:21 AM

Are you using a 'soft' filter there or are the pics just overexposed because of the dash on the sun?

Nice paint job btw.

VtecViXen 11-29-2004 09:43 AM

I like it too. It's not all shiny clear coat looking like most painted interior bits. :_beer: cheers :_beer:

2K1Civic17"Gabe 11-29-2004 11:11 AM

looks good, at least you have grey. I have that crappy tan color. I put blue vinyl on my dash. I hate it, but everybody else seems to like it. Even my grandma. I need some black and blue or grey leather. Looks really good though, Im not big on painted interior, but that came out hella clean

runner1738 11-29-2004 11:35 AM

looks awesome , your making me jealous and wanting to do something to the horrible beige interior honda gave us with the blue vics, i wouldnt mind painting those pieces black , what kind of paint did you use?

againifall 11-29-2004 05:34 PM

yay
those pieces come out super easy for those that are thinking of doing it.. just uses a screwdriver to pop off the side pannels then theres two screws.. then just yank the suckers out.. theres 2 clips on each side (top and bottom) they unless you do something really really wrong you wont break them so dont worry about it just yank.. the piece around the cluster comes out real easy too.. two screws then two clips on the bottom.. just bend it to get it out from behind the wheel..

no filter on the pics.. just never remember to take it off of "landscape" so everything looks like that.. even this pic of the paint that i used

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...r/PB290005.jpg

600 grit sandpaper.. just enough to make a lil dust.. then 3 light coats of paint on the vents.. 5 on the cluster piece (i wanted it darker).. then 2 coats of clear on everything.. it feels factory to the touch and with the exception of the color it still looks it too.. it still has that lil bit of texture to the plastic..

i forgot that i only have 2 hours of light after i get out of work.. so im leaving the rest till this weekend.. ill post more pics when its done..

while im at it ill make a full DIY for everything if someone is willing to put up the points to sticky it or point the DIY bot at it..

Akutenshi 11-29-2004 05:45 PM

nice job. looks clean

againifall 11-29-2004 05:53 PM

good god.. what happened to my words.. they are all out of place and not used correctly

bentspoon 11-30-2004 07:13 AM

imo it looks terrible if you don't do the whole interior all at once, everything looks out of place...
