**SEE PAGE 2 FOR UPDATE WITH BOTH SIDES ON**

it was a pain in the ass without a impact screwdriver or drill bit for metal... but i got one on! it's too dark to do the other side now, but tomorrow will be much easier now that i purchased an impact screwdriver.

the caliper looks like that because while i was waiting for the battery to charge for the power drill, i decided to clean it. so it's only half cleaned haha. i got lazy and it was getting dark fast. tomorrow i might clean it better if i have time.
i'm going to finish the other side tomorrow after work and i'll break them in and let you know how they feel.

dirtySAMURAI 11-15-2004 02:55 PM

mwahaha I will have my brembo blanks and hawk pads in tomorrow afternoon. paying to get it done though because i'm pimp like that. :p

Skunk2ner 11-15-2004 05:26 PM

well well well... i got the other side done this afternoon. it took me about 30 minutes as compared to the other side yesterday taking forever. things go much easier with the correct tools. tip for those thinking about doing this, go out and buy the impact screwdriver, $15 will save you hours and aches and pains.
i just got back from driving it, breaking them in. they feel nice. i feel some good gripping going on. and best of all, no more screeching brakes. the verdict:

TIP of advice... after driving and breaking in the brakes, DO NOT touch the rotors... i accidentally put my palm on the rotor when i was re-torquing everything making sure it was all tight and now i have a huge burn on my hand, ouch! but hey... you haven't christened the car until you've bled and burned yourself working on it.

$120.25 shipped for both front rotors and axxis ultimate pads.
+$14.99 for an impact screwdriver
---------------
=rad brake setup for cheaper than getting rotors resurfaced and pads replaced

def01tones 11-15-2004 10:23 PM

sweet!

Skunk2ner 11-16-2004 02:41 PM

update again... i just drove to and from school. i love these brakes... they are awesome. a lot more brake feel with less pressure on the pedal.

HappyGilmore 11-16-2004 02:53 PM

where did you buy it from? send link? I am planning to change my rotor this weekend.

they are made from different materials though. i didn't weigh them, i should have done that :_doh:

i just put the stock one in the brembo box and through it on the scale, it shows just slightly over 12 lbs. the shipping weight for the brembos is 12 lbs. but that includes the screws! jk. brembos must be slightly lighter, but nothing to make a big deal over.

dirtySAMURAI 11-16-2004 05:24 PM

do your brakes screech at all? i just got back from getting mine installed and they have a slight screech, but all the grip.
