turbo or k20a

i'm trying to decide if i should get an SF Turbo Kit or a k20a....what do u all think???

WhiteCastle 10-29-2004 03:20 PM

get a new car.
20k rsx type-S 210hp
20k fully loaded srt-4 230hp
cheaper than a swap...there done

dirtySAMURAI 10-29-2004 03:24 PM

First question: Do you have this kind of money to spend on your civic?
Second question: Do you have this kind of money to spend on your civic?
Third question: Do you have this kind of money to spend on your civic?

lol annnnyyywaaaayssssss. I would say go with swap. K20A + internals + 30psi boost = ~500whp.

jayvo2005 10-29-2004 03:29 PM

well i have a little over $3000 now..i can't decide if i should get the turbo or save more for the k20a.

dirtySAMURAI 10-29-2004 03:30 PM

save more! you will have a higher baseline whp (~170whp with the k20a, ~160whp with k20a2), and with smaller mods like I/H/E you will notice gains unlike with our d17s.

Bmkarr 10-29-2004 03:31 PM

^^^^ what he said ^^^^^

jyoung 10-29-2004 03:33 PM

are you taking this to the track or do you just want some more power to your vic? auto or standard? if you want to push the vic to its fullest potential, the k20 swap is going to give you more base power, and then from there you can obviously build up the k20 and have a very fast car. the turbo is going to give you moderate gains depending on your tranny situation, but your not going to put away srt's and type-s's either. once again, if you are one of those folks where 'money isn't a issue', then k20 is nice.

jayvo2005 10-29-2004 03:38 PM

oh money is definetely an issue i've just been saving for some time....and i have a 2003 4-door manual. and i just want power...i don't really plan on going to the track.....but if a car pulls up beside me at a red light and wants to test me i want to blow him out the water........well i may race a couple of times but i'm not that serious with it.

2k2redcivic 10-29-2004 03:40 PM

u want power?

buy my kit thats forsale. its by far the best kit and all top quality.

gh0st 10-29-2004 04:04 PM

well in my dreams, i'd have a boosted k20a2 with SI axles to keep the 4 lug ;)

civicvtec1ps 10-29-2004 04:35 PM

With $3000 you can't get k20a.

jayvo2005 10-29-2004 04:43 PM

i said should i get a turbo with it or save MORE to get the k20a

TeRRoRiFiC35 10-29-2004 05:10 PM

get the k20a, build up the internals. if u turbo the stock engine, ull get the same or less HP has the k20a. if you dont want to spend 3 grand, buy a stolen k20(sorry, but it is the cheapest way)

stl01civic 10-29-2004 11:35 PM

k20a type-r is not that friendly w/ F/I

chucas 10-30-2004 12:59 AM

who has a k20 swap

WHo in here has had a k20 swap. i heard you can get up to 30psi turbo into it. THat's way more than a civic. I rather go with the k20. that's what i'm planning on doing after i get my money saved up. If anyone has had a k20 swap talk to me and let me get your specs on it. (even if you don't have the turbo to go with it) thxs.

ya buy a k20, then buy just a turbo, intercooler, and blowoff valve, youll be set :screwy:
that should be all you need for a fully functional, turbocharged k20!

yeah...cause recieving stolen property isnt a crime or anything... :shake:

Caucasian.Asian 11-02-2004 02:20 PM

i would do a swap. once you turbo our car thats pretty much it, and i think a type-s motor will still be faster. if you swap you still have the option of turboing it...

PunkingCivic 11-02-2004 02:21 PM

K20 for sure

there is a member selling a k20a3 for 700

http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=180737

here is another deal for a k20a2 with mounts, axles and intake

http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=149709

2k187 02-17-2005 06:51 AM

I would say k20 if you want more later, I/H/E and the Toda racing engine kit claim around 229 whp and 158 lb feet not too bad for an n/a ride :sweet:
