Vinly Dash Trim

hey im interesting in hooking my interior up. I want a dash trim that will match my ssm civic and i found some on ebay. i found some for liek over a 100 and then i stumbled on vinly kits

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33705

whats the diff between the vinly and the reg dash trim kit that sells for a 100.

The dash trim kit are precut pieces that fit. The ebay vinyl is usually just a sheet you can buy at any good hobby shop and cut to fit everything yourself.

The kit you linked to seems to be cut already. Usually it boils down to quality, and how good you are at applying the kit.

i bought this same kit .... its like stickers

Dont put stickers on your dash... Just paint it.

That kit just gave me an idea. Im wrapping my dash is suede. This will be my next project, as soon as I finish moving. Look forward to seeing a DIY on this in the near future!!!

Unless you can get that shit done neatly with professional paint, dont do it. I have seen too many crappy interior paint jobs in my times. :_doh:

I did my door panel in suede... Sometimes it looks like velvet. IDK if that will look great on the dash... Also consider dust getting stuck in the fabric/cleaning it. :_please:

I have considered that. I just intend to do the front part of the dash. My cigarette ash might be a threat though. Hmm... I might reconsider. But suede is soooo sexy. Ima do it regardless, and quit smoking. There, knock out two birds with one stone.

Just bring your car somewhere, pay ~600, and they will do the entire car, seats, doors and dash. Dont forget, your dash will not match if you do just your dash, or just part of your car. If you paint your car, you will start getting chips, and scratches. Good luck.

There is NO NEED to have a professional paint your dash. I used a cheap can of Krylon on my Integra dash peices, mostly air vents, and no joke when I tell you that people asked where I got the paint done!! It didn't chip and looks killer. The key is, don't be spray heavy. Light coats, about 3 coats. I used a high gloss red. I'm not kidding you, it looks damn good.

Hows about you don't paint it or sticker it. All that stuff looks like crap.

ty.barrack 12-20-2004 03:14 PM

OKAY then. Yeah I think it would be pretty cool to paint the whole dash, door panels and stuff to match the esterior. I bought my LX Coupe Brand New Red with all Black interior. I think I am going to leave that part of the car stock, however I would like to get some red and black racing type seats, maybe I can take the back seat into an upholstery shop here in SD and get it covered to match.

DIY paint it dooder.. stickers are... well.. stickers.. if you take yer time and do it right it looks great when you paint it..

this is an older thread. just FYI! I did my dash in vinyl, and it doesnt match the rest of the car, so now I am getting professionally done with leather. black/grey in about 4 or 5 months. Maybe less, well see. I want nitrous first
