2001 Lx coupe lowering
 

Thinking of putting on 18" wheels with 215/40R18 tires>>
The suspension's totally stock....that being said, it needs to be lowered and yadda yadda yada. I'm a complete beginner but I love my car and want to fly in the ****in' thing. But i'm not making tons of cash. Suggestions that are affordable?

lower it first before u waste money on 18 inch rims- tires are expensive too.
stick with something smaller like 16s or 17s max. i would suggest full coilovers so u have the option of adjusting the height- though they can be a grand. you also have to factor in potential camber kit, alignment? and can you do the install yourself? how much are you willing to spend?

I'm willing to spend no more than 900 on coilovers. I've thought about what size wheels to put in and it seems like everything under 17 inches makes the body look super bulky. So If I did get 17's I would have to lower it right to the wheel's to delete that space above the wheel that makes it look so funky. That's my goal with the 18's. to lower it to the wheel. with about an inch of room or less. Any suggestions on a brand that makes coilovers at a lower price that perform well?

I saw some skunk2 ones for around 860 I think

ya but 18 inch tires are gonna cost a lot more than 17s, and you have to factor in that you might need to roll your fenders. anything over 17s on these cars and it'll look too big, but once again its up to you. you can probably get some Tein basics for around 900 dollars. or if ur not picky on ride height than just pick up some Tein S techs or Eibach Sportlines. and pray your stock shocks wont blow too sooon. but if i were you i would just do coilovers and be done with it the first time. I've heard good things about teins, d2s, progress.

So if I do have 17's on there I avoid the chance of rolling my fenders. If I buy just springs I'll be roadside. Good to know. I'll probably go with the TIEN Basics. Those tein's drop 1 1/2" so there will be room for 17's for sure. I'll probably just stick with that. The wheels will be pricy but I am prepared to get rid of the hub caps. Thanks for the help kcari

ya, get 17s with a lip so it'll look smaller. also depending on tire size and if u have a rear camber kit u might have to roll ur rear fenders. i have 215 45 17 and they are kinda meaty, which means better ride quality, less gap but the car sits higher than say if u were to go 205 45 17 tires- but chances rae 205 u wont have to roll the fenders. i didnt have to roll my fenders when i was tucking with -2 camber in the rear - no rear passengers though

another thing is that the basics will probably still leave gap if u have 16 inch wheels. they werent designed to slam or anything, but you can definitely tuck - assuming u have 215 45 17 tires

They would think it's boring. And you do want them to come back next time and spend their money on your event.
