Please do your research before you buy any parts. Read the suspension FAQ
http://www.7thgencivic.com/modules.p...Suspension+FAQ

coilovers are springs and shocks designed to work together. They are a direct swap from OEM parts. Springs are just springs. You will have to either keep your OEM shocks or get aftermarket shocks.

Look at the parts list and do searches on all the parts. Coilovers will be easier.

get coilovers

dacivic 04-08-2004 02:39 PM

Make sure u get the full set coilover like Tein, Hayame, JIC etc NOT Ground Control or Skunk2. They are just sleeves coilovers = same as spring but with adjustable height.

CvC-v01 04-08-2004 02:39 PM

how much do Tein coil covers run....and were can i buy them????

VNlilMAN 04-08-2004 05:33 PM

tein basic runs about $900 while the ss around 1100. These come with shocks.

If you plan on using stock shocks just go with springs, sleeved coilovers are the biggest waste of money IMO.
BTW i have a set up neuspeed sports and race for sale if you'd like. The sports are whats in my pictures. The race is .5" lower.

anyways...dude you can get Sleeved Coilovers cause i got them and the only thing you really sacrifice is your shocks....cause the ride will be bouncy but what the hell it doesn't bother me none.

VNlilMAN 04-08-2004 05:51 PM

Why spend $300 to have a crappy ride and for your shocks to be blown so that you have to spend that another $550 to replace them.
Do it right the first time.

who says you "HAVE" to replace them....like i said the ride doesn't bother "ME" so doesn't look like i;m gonna be replacing anytime soon. It's basically a persons feel of it.

Edit: your def of a crappy ride might not equal my Def of a crappy ride....it rides nice to me

CvC-v01 04-08-2004 05:56 PM

"VNlilMAN"....

what exactly are you selling??

Mr.Modify 04-08-2004 05:57 PM

Oh yea Vnilman I agree with the "DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME" but sometimes some people don't have that "DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME MONEY" and want to do it now the best way they can. Maybe in the Lonnnnnnnnnngggggggggggggggg run i'll think about it but not now. Oh yea and i know they should save and this and that....but come on some people really don't have the patience to hold off like that.

VNlilMAN 04-08-2004 06:05 PM

I'm selling neuspeed sports springs(1.75" drop) and neuspeed race springs(2.25" drop)
btw... do you still have your kit for sale?

If you dont have the money to do it right the first time, stick with just lowering springs. It'll save your shocks. I dont know about you but I know i want to put the car back to stock when I sell it and I would hate to sell the car with blown shocks or have to replace them when i do sell the car.

Your on ground controls too.. I remember when i had them, I hit a dip and my friends would bounce up in the air. I would always hear my subs bouncing around too. And bottoming out, oh man i was only at like 2" and i would bottom out like crazy. And as for handling, it was horrible. Never again will i get sleeved coilovers.

jttegx 04-08-2004 06:20 PM

im riding skunk2 coilovers with stock shocks. the ride is no problem for me at all. only time i dont like it is when im driving like 20mph over a small bump n it hops up and down real quick.

but i do agree with doing it right the first time, but i didnt have the money =| i was thinking about waiting to save up for hayames but i was desperate to lower my car. n plus, i got them for a cheap and new off eBay.

id rate it a 8.5/10 = skunk2 coilovers with stock shocks.

and to CvC-v01: u should first get the wheels then the drop because what if u got lowering springs first and then the car was way low that its rubbing the tires from the big wheels. springs ride smoother then coilovers but coilovers can be adjustable to the ride height u want.

and please do read the suspension faq: http://www.7thgencivic.com/modules.p...Suspension+FAQ <--- very useful

"jttegx"

what springs do you suggest??????

streetglower 04-09-2004 02:03 AM

it all depends on what your looking for. Do you want a simple drop or be able to adjust your height. I have eibach sportlines with koni shocks and the ride is great.

CvC-v01 04-09-2004 02:25 AM

i just want a simple drop but not too buncy......

VNlilMAN 04-09-2004 11:36 AM

get sleeved coilovers and your asking for bounce. A LOT of it.

Chicohonda02, $100obo each

CvC-v01 04-09-2004 12:57 PM

no bounce what's so ever...i just want a simple drop

EVERYTHING IS GOING TO BOUNCE! You can't eliminate bounce. My JIC coilovers bounce. Unless you get an F1 style chassis, you are going to bounce. The point it to make the bounce not so rough or not too smooth. If you want a simple drop, get a set of springs that lower around 1.3-1.5" with some Konis.

CvC-v01 04-09-2004 01:12 PM

konis are the struts right.....what's the price for a set of those.

robbclark1 04-09-2004 01:15 PM

springs = $100-200
konis = $550
camber kit = $130-200
full coils = $650 for hayames, $900 for Tein basic, $1100 for Tein SS & B&G.

Use the search function and search for reviews and what people have to say about products you are interested in.

RedEU 04-10-2004 11:32 PM

hi,
would coilovers be too hard for everyday street driving? i was thinking of getting tein s-tech springs, but now tempted to go for tein coilovers, what are the differences in terms of ride & handling between all three? the basic, ss and the springs & struts combo??
