Thoughts on Tires and Wheels, Which Should I Get?
 

So i'm not purchasing any tires/wheels as of now, but I'm seeing what there is to offer. So far I've narrowed down my rim choice to this one.

I was thinking since I was getting black tint here on Saturday, the black rims would contrast well on my silver car with the tint. Also, a good friend of mine reccommended the Enkei's. (not sure of the quality)

Also, when I dig deeper into the deal, I would have to pick a set of tires as well. The thing is, there aren't too many great choices to choose from. From this list could you tell me the top 2-3 tires?

which size are you going to get? I think these as 15's wouldnt look too great. 16 and 17 maybe. are you only looking at those?

I'd rather not spend an extra 100 dollars to upgrade it one inch.

And the other guy talking about the chrome lip, it may be overused on here but I have yet to see them where I'm from. Who cares anyways?

its not just about getting another inch.

having a 50-profile tire significant reduces tire roll


205/50/16 is pretty optimal for our civics. it balances handling and ride comfort. plus u have a MUCH better selection of tires.

those tires are a lil over priced.

i would look into konig if i were you. they are about the same price, and much lighter.


and i would get at least 16"

because if u get 15, they are going to look stock..and ur car is gonna look like they have big ass donuts on them.

plus, with 16" you get 16x7 (7 being the width) so it'll fit a 205 tire better .

thanks for the advice. i was thinking of possibly going up an inch, even though it is a lot pricier /: but i'll look at the options for a 16" wheel and hopefully find some Konigs. Could you send me links to some good tires?

I like that website but for me, price is a big issue. If I can buy a wheel&tire combo for under 800, i'll be happy. but if i buy them seperately, it could end up costing me more money in the long run.

they are a good basic tire. if u dont do any crazy turns, they will serve you well.

ive had them on my civic before and they were awesome. very good all round tire.

the nitto gens are better and stickier (ive had both so i can tell u for sure)

but the nitto gens arent very good in wet conditions. they arent bad, just not as good as the 912

btw civicccc2k1, i would try searching on craigslist for tire stores.

they usually have free install if u buy their tire, and their tires are usually MUCH MUCH cheaper.

i bought my nitto gens for $65/tire from a shop that posted on craiglist.

im checking out craigslist. i found a dealer that sells buy 3 get one free. I can get Konigs from your site and find tires elsewhere.

i got my konigs (one in the pix) for like $502 shipped and they're 17" rims... 16 would hav been much cheaper. (take out the extra lug nut order tho if u already have acorn style lug nuts).

if u have stock lug nuts that arent acorn type, id get some aftermarket lug nuts tho.

The ones i'm looking at, these (http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...535&wd=16&rw=7) would be like 450. and if i get a good tire deal at a shop i can get around 700 for everything. and how do I tell what lugs i have?

There r two basic types of lug nuts: acorn and ball. A lot of stock rims from Honda including steroids use ball type lugnuts. After market rims use acorn which usually has a 60 degree head.

Ball lug nuts will damage ur aftermarket rims

Alright so instead of paying 45.00 for the lug nuts that come with it, you suggest me buying a set of acorn style lug nuts from like ebay or amazon or something?

^yes, those are acorn style nuts. see how it goes in at a 60degree angle?

Look if you are looking for a set of 16 in konigs i would look at whippetwheels.com i got a set of rims with nitto gens for nxt to nothing with free shipping new lugs and a nitrogen fill. plus read reviews about the online stores before you purchase you wouldn't believe some of the crap wheelsnext.com has done to their customers!!! look it up just for fun even if you aren't buying its crazy!!!

Look call them the sale rep i spoke with worked with me to find what i was looking for the price i was willing to pay!!! but either way just check out other customers dealings with website rim companies because some of them are just snakes bro they will take your money then tell you what you ordered is out of stock!!! then try to get you to buy something that is more!!!!!
