[SOLVED] Power Lock/Dome Light/Radio Issue Hey guys, I have a 2003 Honda Civic EX (Semi-Noob ). Yesterday, while working on my suspension (completely unrelated), I noticed that my power locks stopped working. Background Info: I have a Viper alarm system installed on my car. It's been 11 months since that install, and the Viper has never had an issue locking and unlocking the car. When I start the car, the doors automatically lock, as is a feature of this alarm system. Symptoms: [Key out of ignition] I sat in my car and proceeded to lock the doors with the switch, on the driver's side door. Nothing. I also noticed that my dome lights, always set to "door", weren't on either. Now, the dome lights worked when I pushed the buttons to turn them on and moved the switch. [Key in ignition, "On" position] Everything worked normally. Dome lights came on when door opened. Power locks worked. Because I have an alarm system, I just want to make sure I cover all bases. I suspect the door lock actuator might be going bad, as I heard a noise coming from behind the door panel when locking and unlocking the doors with the switch [Key in ignition]. Are there any fuses I should check for as well, or am I generally looking at the door lock actuator. And if it's the actuator, is it only the driver's side door that requires a new one, or is there one in all 4 doors? Thanks guys, and sorry in advance if anything above is something I should already know. |
Re: Power Lock/Dome Light Issue I suspect the door lock actuator might be going bad Then stick a light bulb in the 2 wires that operate the lock motor, see if it lights up when you work the switch |
