P1607 code on civic 2002

hello,

Finally I had chance to scan my honda civic 2002 and I've got p1607 code. I was driving this car for the last four months with the 'check engine light' on. I know the code means 'P1607 Engine Control Module (ECM)/Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Internal Circuit Malfunction', however can someone please explain what does it mean? Is it dangarous to drive this car? How much is it to fix it (appox.)? and is this covered by Honda's warranty?

TIA

more then likely you either need to update or replace the pcm. first reset the ECU and turn the key on and wait 40 seconds and see if the code comes back. If it does, it needs one of those 2 options usually only done at the dealer. Also, check your battery as the manaul states a low battery can cause this. but thats only if the code doesnt come back after resetting it.

Now is your car still have a warranty?

Also if it just needs to be updated, then it should be $100 or less. But if it needs to be replaced, it can cost around $500. It isnt dangerous to drive, but it is up to you if you want it fixed or not.

Thank you so much for a prompt reply ;). It is not a battery, because the light comes back right away after reseting codes. The car is 2002 and it still under 5 year power train (sp) warranty, do you know if this would be covered under it?

TIA

as long as your warranty covers everything on the vehicle. If you just have a powertrain warranty, that usually means only the engine and tranny, unless otherwise specified. Look in your warranty info and see if its covered.
