Engine Washing!! More Questions!

I have searched and found that some people wash there engine while it is running and some say to clean it while it is off after it has cooled. Which one of these is the correct method? Also could I use the high pressure washer + soap at a clean it yourself carwash or not? Thanks!

You can use the high-pressure washer, with the engine degreaser-I use this on my truck all the time. Don't run the engine while you are washing it, run it immediately after to dry all the parts off quicker...

I asked a similar question a while back and got several answers so I decided to talk to an auto detailer. First thing I was told is to make sure the engine is cool( If the water is to cold and hits the hot engine you can crack the block). Second I was told to cover the filter on my intake so water didnt get in it(I just tied a plastic bag around it). Next spray it down with Simple Green, put it on heavy where the grease and stuff is thicker. Let it sit for 20 to 30 minutes and go back and hose it down with a high pressure nozel. Repeat in areas that need it. My engine had a noticeable difference after the first time doing it.

Do i need to cover the battery, and fuse box also?

I wouldn't cover either of them. The batt definately doesn't need it and the fuse box doesn't unless you plan on being silly and blasting the water on it. Just don't directly spray the hay out it and you'll be fine. The whole engine bay does see rain ya know....
