looks like paint is coming off on my tires....

I have no clue what is going on. I have an inca pearl civic and I noticed my tires had this gold like color to them. So, I clean them and the next day they're gold again. It rains a lot where I'm at, don't know if that has anything to do with it. Wondering if this is normal, is my paint coming off; what is going on? I'm a newbie too so sorry if it's a newbie question.

maybe its a reflection on the tires, paint running would be kinda hard to imagine, but who knows! if you use tire dressing maybe its reflecting a chemical within the dressing.

you paint isnt falling off........no worries.....like import said might be a tire dressing or maybe some stuff onm the roads where you live

I used armorall on them the other day. Wondering if this happened to other people. All the crap I've gone through with this car, I wouldn't be suprised if some how now my paint decided to melt away somehow.

Don't some tire dressing put colored flakes in them to make the tires a certain color???

ShadyMilkMan 07-21-2002 10:58 PM

take some pictures, that is too wierd..

perhaps if you wash it enough you might actually get that piss yellow color off?

your problem is right there.. the Armorall... it not used right, it'll make your tires turn golden brown... before you put on amorall.. you gotta throughly wash and scrub the tires to get all the crap off....or else it traps whatever dirt under the layer of amorall and make you tires crappy lookin

Try Maguiar's Endurance High Gloss Dressing (Autozone), it keeps the tires nice and bright.

too much silicone not enough cleaning. simple green and a brush will get rid of it.

thanks....well, now I feel like a real newbie.

That Meguiars high gloss tire dressing gel works just awesome. I alwase use that with eagle 1 tire swipe pads and it together works like a champ! The gloss lasts for quite a while and dosent run and dosen't wind up on your car paint.
