what product to use for a silver civic?
liquid wax seems easier, but do they work as well?
what should i use to apply it?
how often should i wax?

id go with a paste wax it goes on thicker so it lasts longer
any wax will do for your silver car, many people use megiars, i use nu finish because it lasts about 6 months.
use a sponge applicator to apply wax
wax when your wax wears off. if the water doesnt bead up when its raining, its time to wax.

can i use a regular spong or a towel to apply the wax?

buy the meguiars gold class wax. it comes with applicator which is sponge.. i used it on my 01 lx silver sedan(just waxed it after 8 month, still no swirl marks).... it looks like it just came out of dealer's showroom.. remember to dry car to cleanest state first

then apply wax... use terry cloth to wax car to finish....

No sponge!!!! Go to the auto store and grab a pack of wax appilcators for like $3...an old, plain cotton t-shirt will work in a pinch, but stick to the foam applicators.....

Tarik: It is up to you when you want to wax your car. Most people wax there car once a month or twice a month, and then there are others that do it once every 3 or so months. I am a fanatic I usually wax my car between 3 and 4 times a month. It is up to you when you want to do it.

i think thats way to much, if i use meguiars gold wax, will every 3-4 months get the job done.

I wax my car 3-4 times a month too - I don't like it if my car isn't nice and smooth :)

I usually use the applicator with my gold class wax, and buff with the soft cloth - in between, I use the quick detailer as well to keep the shine up.

Anyone use the buffing wheels? I was thinking of getting one, but I heard it can be tricky to use...

i use eagle one wet wax as-u-dry, , but that would not be a suffient wax job would it, i think its just for a quick wax?

That isnt good for the only wax you are putting on your car. You need to wax your car with one of the waxes that I have mentioned before.

Twilight, as for the Orbital...It is up to you if you want one. I would rather do things by hand because then you can use a back and forth or side to side motion and you donr have to worry about causing swirl marks. With a n orbital you may cause swirl marks and it is a pain to use...you have to swtich terry pads and you have to take time to put the wax on...I would rather just work by hand.

Use foam applicator putting the wax on in circular motions, den let it sit until it whitens, and wipe it off in straight line motions.

NEVER EVER use CIRCULAR motion. Always use back and forth or side to side. Circular motion cause swirl marks. You are also always better off using a foam applicator over a terry applicator. Terry can cause swirl marks, while with foam you are less likely to get swirls.

I hear ya...good thing I haven't invested into one :) Besides, I like the personal satisfaction of doing it by hand...the only thing I wish I didn't get was all the little 'wax dust' that gets left behind after polishing it all off - any remedies for that?
