oversprayed, HELP!
 

My car got prayed by my neighbors painter. I got paint specs all over. He said he'll pay for the cleaning. where should I take it, to a bodyshop or a detailer?

From the title of thread, I originally thought you blew your engine using too much NOS or something. [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/IMG]

As long as your friend is paying for it, take it to a body shop that does paint jobs.

Thats funny, I did't think about it. overprayed. Yeah, I have little paint dots all over. A datailer told me its called oversray. Its very comon and there is a special technique but that he did't do that type of service. So I want to know if someone had a simmilar incident and what's the best procedure.

Take it to a body shop. I think that would be your best bet. Take some typing lessons....haha[IMG]i/expressions/laugh2.gif[/IMG]

If your friend isn't paying for it, then DIY! Just use a rubbing compund to grind off the paint. Since it's on the clear coat you'll eat through the paint and get to the clearcoat. Then just use some polish and polish the whole area. That's what I would do. Then again, if the paint flecks are thick I would maybe try razoring them off a little first.

coming from a manager at a detail shop, actually all you need to do is use a clay bar and if that doesnt work then it might need a new paint job but id take it to a detailer cuz they will buff it with some compound then cut the paint then use clay on it and it should get rid of the overspray. dont worry about it just take it there.:tup::)

Uh what color car is it?
If its black or blue dont touch it with rubbing compound! It will scratch the paint! Too gritty! There are many less agitating chemicals out there that will work much safer faster and better! I belive that old#2 bug and tar remover wqorks great! And wax and grease remover works great and depending how mich wax you have on the car, a nice high rpm polisher will eliminate all defects in or on the surface of the paint! Dakota

Didn't know it would show on darker colors. I have a SSM and I had to do this in two places and I did an excellent job using this technique. Although there was no need for the razor blade since the paint flecks were rather flat.

just use a claybar man, it should get rid of the overspray, that's what they're for. and tell your neighbor it took you like 10 hours and get him to pay you. sounds like a good idea to me.
