fresh new start
 

about 1 year ago i was a complete noob with detailing. i can still see some haze/smears of wax on my body paint and would love to get rid of these so i can get a fresh new start.

the detail materials i have used were:
meguairs extra soap suds car wash soap (NOT the wax added onto it)
mothers claybar
meguairs step 1 process (paint cleaner)
meguairs show car glaze
meguairs gold class wax (liquid)
terry cloth towel, drying stuff, sheepskin wash mitt, and microfiber towel


i still have the same items and would like to reuse these so i dont have to spend more money. so what can i do to remove these smears/hazes?

i did the clay to get the rough spots out, and the smears, try some Turtle wax car color polish, i got a black and used it to cover road crap...ie..bugs, knicks, etc.

you can start all over again by doing the order above and you'll strip whatever is on the finish. make sure to work in the paint cleaner one section at a time (about the size of an average microfiber towel) with a little bit of elbow grease, as that particular paint cleaner is very mild.

invest in getting a pc (this is the real deal, not like those cheap buffers from wal-mart, pepboys, kragen, etc..) as it will take all the work out of it, and will give you far superior results than your hands ever will (x-mas is coming ask for it as a present :) ). trust me, you'll wonder why you didn't get one sooner! http://autopia-carcare.com/inf-porte...-polisher.html

p.s. my vic is just about 4 years old and by using this machine, it looks better than the day i bought it. not to mention, i have the nicest looking car in my whole neighborhood (even the dealership knows it :) )!

maybe try washing your car with dish soap to strip all the wax off of it and then wash it normally with car soap but make sure you rinse your bucket and washmit well because that dish soap will stay on it good. then try your clay bar and all ur steps you have might work out better.

i wouldn't recommend using dish wash soap as it's too aggressive and will dry out plastic, rubber, etc. it's intended for dishes, pots, pans, etc... and should only be used there.
