Different method for fixing scratches on bumpers ?

Didn't pay enough attention when I parked my car today. So now there's like a 3 inch scratch right on the corner of my front bumper. So before I shoot myself I thought I'd better check the forum
Don't know how deep it is, if it's just the top coat or whatever, and I haven't polished or waxed yet (just happend 4 hours ago). I did a search first, but couldn't exaclty find what I wanna know. Do you treat these kind of scratches different compared to scratches on non-plastic body work ?

No, unless it goes all the way through the paint. I would try some non-abrasive polish first and see how that works. If it's deep but not all the way through the paint, you will probably have to buff out the entire bumper. Unless you hava dark colored vic, I would just polish and forget about it.

before calling a bodyshop, find a local detailer and ask what he can do... friend of mine brought his 97 Golf into a detailer with a bunch of minor, but noticable scratches, the detailer sanded and polished all but one of the scratches out... cost my friend $40 CDN for the whole thing - bodyshop wanted to charge him $400 to repaint his rear panel.
