removing pinstripes is it possible to remove those black pinstripes going down the side of the car? if they are, is it DIY doable? and how would i could about doing it? |
If they are stikcers yes ( most are now a days ) then yeah they can be removed, its a PITA and you have to have your car buffed and waxed after wards. Unless yours are painted on then take it to a pro. |
did they do both with hondas? i think it came with them from the factory |
oh and just running your hands over them it feels like there are little bumps there, so i guess they're stickers? |
Yes they are stickers. Already been discussed. http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=245603 |
Hmmm... I personally like my pinstripes ;-) |
all you really need is a spray bottle and a brand new razor blade....and i mean brand spanking new or it will scratch your paint!!!! 1. spray down the pinstripe with your bottle with H2O 2. then with the razor blade try to keep it as flat on the car as possible where the pinstripe starts 3. slide the razor under the pinstripe and go down the length of the car. 4. go over any spots you missed 5. use a car cleaner to remove the excess glue with a towel 6. wax over area of removal 7. step back and enjoy your work... this should take oyu about 10 minutes to do...its the easiest way possible and i do it all the time for people at my shop.. |
I did it by hand and a little bit of alcohol on a rag. There is NO NEED for a razor blade. I'd never take a razor to the paint, only glass. It took me about 20 minutes to do the entire car without anything but my hands. The alcohol was for after the strips were removed. |
Just thought I would post a couple pictures of before and after I removed the stripes. I still do NOT recommend a razor blade!! http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...206_1_full.jpg http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...06_28_full.jpg |
A Razor Blade? WTF? Just let your car sit in the sun or if you're lazy use a blowdryer so that the pinstripes heat up. Peel it off, rub some goo gone. Wax it. The you're done. |
A fvcking razor blade? Are you mentally incompetent? I'm glad I'll never go to your shop for anything. I managed to peel half of my driver's side pinstripe off with just my bare hands, without using a blowdryer. I only switched to a blowdryer because I wanted to finish faster |
