what do you use to dry your car?

i have been using like old pool towels and shit like that but i hate using them, they just spread the water around and barely absorb any water. I think i heard cotton isnt good to use on cars but i dont know if thats true....whats a good cloth to use to dry cars and where can i get them? thanks

xRiCeBoYx 09-03-2006 06:29 PM

i use a silicone squeegee thingy to take all the excess water off my car, then i go around with "The Absorber" and get all the little dropletts... it does the job pretty well

SDhondarider 09-03-2006 08:57 PM

I have a bunch of microfiber towels that I use. I use one to pick up the excess water, wring it out, pick up more water, etc. Then use dry ones to get the rest.

i just get most of it with the wiper, then get the rest with microfiber cloth. but usually im lazy and just drive on the freeway for a bit. only leaves a few spots.

ctx66 09-03-2006 09:16 PM

The absorber. Ignore the haters, i've been using it for like 6 years now, great stuff.

RHCP0801 09-03-2006 09:21 PM

never heard of the absorber

i guess ill use microfiber next time

crazyasian 09-03-2006 09:37 PM

i use the california blade shit does wonders. then i just go over the car with a microfiber towel for the stuff i missed.

Anything on the page below is great, I highly suggest the water magnet drying towel. The water blade works well and then use this to get up the rest in cracks and so on. For a really professional job make sure to dry inside the door sills and the gas filler cover. Also make sure to get underneath the mirrors, blow the water out and soak it up as it runs down, otherwise the first time you see wind you will have streaks, the same goes for the lug nuts on your wheels, commonly overlooked but can help keep the overall appearance for longer with less effort and frustration.

RHCP0801 09-03-2006 09:58 PM

where can i pick this stuff up, rep for everyone by the way

IrockCivics 09-03-2006 10:01 PM

The absorber all day everyday.... You can get it at autozone, pep boys etc......

mugenman 09-03-2006 10:21 PM

i use the mr clean auto dry car wash thing and i just let nature take its course

RHCP0801 09-03-2006 10:24 PM

that thing sucks for caked on dirt, its only good for pollen and dust....i had it and threw it out

gearbox 09-03-2006 10:37 PM

um i think when you wash your car, you need something to actually wipe the car down. ofcourse spraying water wont clean it off.

mugenman 09-03-2006 10:38 PM

i try not to let dirt get caked on therefore ive never really had a problem with it. i mean yeah a few spots here and there but other than that i like it.

RHCP0801 09-03-2006 10:40 PM

well with the mr clean thing you use the filtered water attachment thing and you are supposed to let it air dry because "it has no spots" since it is filtered

i didnt like it tho, its hard for me to wash my car often to where there is no caked on dirt. Today was the first time i washed my car in almost a month since there was rain like every other day

mugenman 09-03-2006 10:43 PM

yeah. i try to wash it about once a week and i try to wax about once a month. but sometimes it doesnt work out that way for me lol

soonercivic 09-05-2006 02:37 PM

You should be able to get most of these products at any auto parts store. Autozone, pepboys, oreillys, advance auto and so on, in fact I think walmart sells some of it.

EBP EX 09-06-2006 01:00 PM

California water blade. then chamois what's left. It doesn't have to be "the absorber" either.

SloW4Sh0wVic 09-10-2006 04:20 PM

after washing the car, i actually go for a drive

60mph, for like 2 minutes

come back, and just start the rest

pyroz 09-12-2006 09:52 PM

i use mr. clean autodry and if i get restless, i'll use microfiber towels. what is the absorber anyway?

DDragon7 09-12-2006 10:42 PM

Some sort of drying towel that absorbs water like no tomorrow.

RHCP0801 09-12-2006 11:00 PM

i used the microfiber towels last weekend, they did a good job but didnt absorb that well

Boost_Junkie 09-16-2006 11:37 PM

cIvIc_xyza 09-23-2006 07:27 AM

just use an air gun!!! hehehe.. hen a dry towel

Em2onCPRs 09-24-2006 11:37 PM

california wiper blade, then finish it off with a soft towel.

EggRollBandit05 09-25-2006 02:58 AM

Well my bro finished washing his car one day and I just finished some yard work out back with a leaf blower so... longs story short I helped him blow the water off and he went over it with a towel. It actually worked pretty well, got the water out of all the cracks and wheels too

Syke Fu 09-26-2006 04:36 PM

I use some kind of armor all carwash which works pretty well. I then use the microfiber towel to dry it.

yamahaSHO 10-25-2006 04:39 PM

I use a California "Water Blade" to get the brunt of it off and then get the remaining with "The Absorber". For the door and trunk sills, I use a real Chamois.
