I havea 2002 Honda civic EX sedan and i got a full lip kit painted on it well they did no cover the cadr so there a clear coat all over just like a thin layer on the windows and the paint does not feel smooth at all like it was before i took it in can any help me here please????????????????????????????????????/

Yea, take it back to the painter! (with a big stick in your hand!)

I would take it back and complain. If they won't do anything about it try claying it and if that doesn't work than I think you're stuck wet sanding.

Already tryed it and it got worse

Try a clay bar on the windows, and a light abrasive on the car where necessary. Clay it first, and if that doesnt work for you, use some Meguiars ScratchX or the Meguiars Deep Crystal Step 1. Either of those should do the trick, the scratchX would probably be better. Make sure to leave the newly painted peices alone though! You should only run a light stream of water on new paint for about 30 days.

oh jeez i had a nightware to fix after the shop got done with the accident damage inside and out. but i know what you mean. i used a ton of meguiars clear coat body scrub (now discontinued), and eventually after like 5 applications and tons of rubbing, it came back to normal. then i had to fix the scratches all over from where they removed the pinstripe with sandpaper which was also a mess. and thats the best body shop in town. but yea step1 should work also it has mild abrasive.

And yes DO NOT touch the painted pieces for 2 months. you can wash with water, thats all. if you wax it, the clear is ruined.

so use Meguiars Deep Crystal Step 1. I was talking to people and they told me to use 2000 grit and then buff it i did a little section adn it worked. I also went o the best bodyshop in town and this is what happened.

So heres what i should do

step 1.) Meguiars Deep Crystal Step 1
step 2.) Use Meguiars ScratchX

it happens i guess. my interior was an absolute mess. i actually had to redo the carpet because there was bondo/fiberglass pieces and dust all over everything. but yeah thats a plan. but the step 1 should remove it all. i doubt you'll even need the scratchx, but it will make the cleaned paint smoother so might as well do that too. it wont make it any worse. then top with glaze and wax.

Thanks gearbox i will go get all the stuff today and let you guys know how it went.

just dont try once and give up. you really have to keep doing it til the sandpaper feeling goes away.

ya i bought two bottles and i am going to work on it tonight

good new i got it off 3 applications on the car. I used Meguiars its a clear coat cleaner for heavy use i will have the name here tomorrow i am out and will post it tomorrow

Try the clay bar, if that doesnt work then grab some window cleaner and one of those 2 sided dish sponges. That should do it for you. Make sure you keep it well lubricated. The alternative is always laquer thinner, but you DONT want to get that anywhere else on the car.

windows, goto napa and get "no touch auto glass stripper". it will take ANYTHING off. just follow directions and grab some rain-x to put on once you clean it.

Why is anyone even suggesting you touch it at all? Take it back to the painter and tell them they have to fix their mess. Otherwise talk to the Better Business Bureau and slander tham all to hell.

Dude i took it back they made it worse. I am not going to screw around with a company so i did it myself

Am I reading this right? If you go to pick up your car and it's not to your expectations, don't leave with it. Tell them you'll be back the next day to pick it up after they try again. Or have them pay another shop to do it. You're too submissive.

I fixed the problem is not your car so dont worry about it. I never paid for all the work because of it so i made out in the process

ive learned that some things a body shop shouldnt do. they tried to fix part of my pinstripe, it looked terrible, so i had them sand off the rest so it wouldnt look so ugly,when i got it back it looked like someone got a piece of sandpaper and dragged it over everything. they said thats the best they can do. i picked up sme scratchx and 2 hrs later you can barely tell any scratches.

If only some people would read the WHOLE thread. I mean its not even that long. *sigh* So you got it off?

Next time just learn to paint for yourself. Its SOO much better, and you know who to blame when it goes wrong. lol

I am at a loss. I worked over 10 years in bodyshops and always removed any overspray on glass with a blade???????????????

I tryed using a blade and i scraped my front window up

me too its still there millions of scratches and i had a glass shop show me the proper technique.
