hot rims all wheel cleaner?
 

I bought Meguiars Hot Rims all wheel cleaner and it states on the directions that I should not leave it on the wheel for more than 15 seconds or spray on the brakes or rotors? What the f? I have aftermarket painted rims (Motegi mr7), should I worry about using this product? How do they expect us to spray the wheel without getting it on the rotors and brakes?

if it's the same bottle i have in my garage it's safe for all kinds of rims.

Its fine on any rims. They say that on the bottle because with the products in it, if it sits too long it can cause damage. If you get a little overspray on your brakes you will be fine, just dont use it to clean the brakes.

Is there a brand that is safe for any wheels, brakes and rotors....sort of and all in one cleaner?

haha i never use that crap. car soap and water with a cloth is great. with the rims waxed, i can usually wipe them clean with a dry shop towel and have it come out new.

This is a new one by Meguiars that works great on wheels and brakes.

But like gearbox said, i just use soap on water on mine because of the wax on the rims. If you wax your rims any wheel cleaner made will eat it right off, but a good car soap will help preserve it.

You should be able to pick it up and autozone, pepboys, and possibly even walmart or target.

i've used the megs hot rims all wheel cleaner and didn't care for it. after you use up that bottle, try the eagle one all wheel and tire cleaner (acid free). easily the best stuff i've ever used and it's available locally. http://eagleone.com/pages/products/p...=1003&cat=5006

other than using a wheel cleaner, use a quality wheel brush with car soap. that works just as well...

Did u read the warning?

WARNING: DO NOT USE ON NON-FACTORY PAINTED WHEELS, MOTORCYCLE WHEELS, AND SOME ANODIZED WHEELS.

When they say keep away from brake parts and rotors we mean try not to apply so much products on those areas or concentrate too much product on those parts. We also put the warning on incase you have aftermarket brake parts ie..rotors, calipers, and brake lines that might be stainless steel. I'd highly recommend using our Hot Rims Multi Piece instead. The Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner would be considered too acidic for painted wheel unless they're clear coated. If they're clear coated go for it, if not I'd used the Hot Rims Multi Piece Wheel Cleaner. I use it on my gunmetal Work Emotion wheels, wheel spoke brush and love it.

^yes. Its sad really.

Yeah you don't want to leave it sitting in one place for long period of time, cause the substands in the bottle can damage the wheels. We use something alike here at work, but its wheel acid..... we mostly use it on chrome wheels rather the painted one's. We have wheel degresser for them.

Oh and by the way, if you decide to use this product.... don't spary the product while the wheels and rotors are still hot.

Soap, water, and a soft brush works better for me...

gave it to my dad, i'm just going to wash them like my car, then give it a good wax and that's it! It's not worth it!

dupont wheel cleaner with Teflon, best stuff ever, ive been using it for like almost one year and my rims are still in perfect shape. ALso the teflon keeps brake dust and other crap off, that stuff really works.

I guess Im the only one that still uses Simple Green? Just put it in a spray bottle, spray and rinse! Then, if you are anal about your wheels like I am, you wax the wheels and presto! Brand new wheels.

Simple Green is nice, but I dont like using it on painted wheels.
