you can use like dawn dishsoap. |
u sure about the dish soap, I hear its a big no no. |
/\/\ yes you can the reason dish soap is a no no is because it takes off the old wax just use it to remove it then use a real car wash soap to next time you wash your car |
Use clay. It will remove the old wax along with other contaminates on ur surface. Its the best thing if you want to start over fresh. Dawn soap wont get rid of that griddy feel, clay will. Peace |
/\/\ true if you want to get rid of the shit that regular washing cant get out but if your just trying to get the old wax off dawn will be fine since a claybar takes more time to do, but if your going to go all out claybar, if your lazy like me dish soap |
thanks guys for the input, any idea what kind of stores to buy clay bar at? walmart, autozone? or specialty? |
any of those mentioned is fine. Local clays will include Clay Magic, Mothers, and Meguairs. I use clay magic cuz the clay is blue :hgrin: . Good luck on ur clay. Remember to use plenty of lube. If you've never did or felt a clayed car, you will be amazed. Peace |
The claymagic one is cheaper, like around $10 if you can find it. But I like the mother's clay bar better...I just think the consistency of the mothers clay is better and easier to use than the claymagic one. However, the mother's clay kit is like $16.99 and comes with the lube and a tiny bottle of mother's carnuba wax. I hate that wax tho...not bad, I just prefer a synthetic wax like zaino. If you're going for a full on detail, use dawn on your car first to strip the wax, then clay it, then polish and wax. as far as where to get the claybar, pepboys and autozone (around here anyway, southern CA) always has the mothers kit for 16.99. I can't find the claymagic one ANYWHERE in socal but in northern cal I found it at walmart. But the walmarts down here don't have any claybars (been to a number of locations). |
