DIY Tints

has anyone every done their own tints? im interested to see how they come out

PoorCollegeBoy 03-28-2005 12:28 PM

I think Viper did his own tint, I could be mistaken though

I did my back 2 windows myself and they turned out really well. I have a coupe so it was easy to size it up but it was a little tight inside but still not too hard. I wanted to do the back windshield and front 2 but i didn't trust myself with it. Its been about half a year now with it on and there are a couple (2) tiny bubbles that are unnoticable unless you are close up and stare. And it's not purple or blue, nice dark 5% black. I want to get it all redone professionally though, can't beat that warranty.

^^ i got my tints done illegally out of state. no warranty cuz no receipt

I got my tints done at a shop thats about 20 mins from my house. I thought it'd just be better to get it professionally (plus you get the warranty which is nice). If you dont know what your doing it could be hard though, cause you need to make sure that the window is 100% clean so that dust/dirt doesnt get trapped under the film

It only cost me $150 for the whole car to get tinted so its not that big of a deal...

your call...

$150's a pretty good price, all windows right? I gotta get mine retinted cause of a ticket. :_doh:

Blackness 04-04-2005 01:52 AM

^^^^ How much was your ticket? I'm going to get mine done like 15%, which is illegal but I will get it done after I get my car inspected again so I can avoid a ticket for at least a year..

PennyKnotOff 04-04-2005 03:47 PM

I haven't taken it yet i have till the 26 and i'm gonna enjoy it while it lasts

simple, pull up to anyone with heavily bubbled tints at a red light and ask them how they did :p

honestly its worth the $170ish (cdn) to get your car tinted proeprly and with a life time warrenty.
