Seat Removal

I need to clean my car and I want to thoroughly clean it by taking out the seats. So I unscrewed the four big bolts and there is wires connecting the seat to the floor. What is that for? How do I disconnect it?

It should just be wires going into a plug. It's your srs sensor to sense if someone is actually IN the seat so the airbag will deploy incase of an accident. Just make sure you dont turn the car on while the seat is out or you'll trip your srs light.

Edit: Also, just follow the wires till you come to a plug ( I think its right against the seat) and unplug them there.

Make sure to disconnect the neg battery cable first!!!! I cant stress that enough, or you could blow your head off. Wait at least I think 3 or 5 minutes before unplugging the airbags after taking the cable off. I would personally wait 10 minutes (I did wait that long) just to be safe. And dont connect it until you are done, and the plugs are back in. You can turn the car on, but the SRS light will come on. There is a DIY to get it off though, with a paperclip. Its not that hard.

Good luck, and its easier to use a carpet cleaner with hose extensions. Thats what I use, and with 93000 miles on my car, it is completely spotless. Plus I have 2 little kids, so my car gets spills, fries, cheetos, whatever all over. But it looks like new. Just an idea, instead of taking everything out. Are you washing them in the washer?? If so, be careful so it doesnt shrink, and not go back on the seats.

Ok, I just took out my passanger seat and started the car and drove around the whole day and not one problem, I didn't disconnect the battery either. I even listened to music while I was disconnecting the wires. You guys are full of it.
