paint, how long needs to dry? just got my car back from the shop after repainting (honda oem color). want to know how many days or hours it takes before the car paint should see rainy days? anyone know? its just a OEM honda factory color |
it should be fine after you pick it up. you probably will want to wait 30 days to wash it though. dont do anything other than run water on it very gently. the shop should have baked the paint on enough in the paint booth to withstand rain. by the way, how much did it cost you? im lookin to get mine done too and have no idea how much. thanks |
its currently raining here, so should i worry about the rain or is it not enough pressure to damage the paint? can i still use the hose to rinse my car or no? i didnt paint the entire vehicle, just the hood, bumper, door, fender and mirror. but its costing me a grand and half which includes labor, paint, and parts (mirror/fender). |
Rain, and snow is fine. And you DO want to wash it right away. Don't let the dirt and crap sit on the paint for 30 days or it could etch the paint. Wipe off any bird crap right away too. Go get a good washing mitt and good car soap to wash the car. Now, for waxes and sealants I would recommend waiting 3 months to make sure it cures all the way. |
i would hope the shop wouldnt give you the car back still wet...im sure its good and dry...definetly wait at least 30 days before touching it with anything other than just water |
the guy who paints our stuff, says wait 2 weeks, than wash and wax it. He has no booth, just his garage, but he does a good job for 150 a piece (such as 150-hood, 150-bumper-150-roof. Basically every panel is 150, but if he redid the whole car, would be cheaper) |
The guy told me 2 months before putting stuff on it like wax. |

I would wait 3 months before waxing or sealing the car. 2 months at the very least. if you go ahead and wax your car in 2 weeks your clear will NEVER cure right and it will always be super soft. |
Boo I gotta wait 3 months to glaze/wax now :( |

ya soap and water is fine, I would stick with the car soap that says won't strip wax imo and you'll be fine. Just nothing to seal in the paint. |
hey if you you wash and wax it will it get dull and not look like the same color as the other parts that were not painted? |
