Tint

It appears in WA that I can tint all my windows (allowing 35% light....big props for posting that stuff in 'legall). Anyway, anyone out there recommend a brand or place to buy tint? Any tips on intall? Thanks

FALKEN 06-24-2004 11:44 AM

call around to some tint-shops in your local area and have them give you a quote on an install

bobbyd 06-24-2004 11:50 AM

Don't do it yourself. Just take it in and let a pro do it. They will offer a lifetime garauntee against bubbles, fading and so on.

albs 06-24-2004 01:07 PM

Some of the cheaper tint jobs will only last you a few years before they start to bubble and fade. If you plan on keeping your car for more than a few years, get a quality job that gives you a lifetime guarantee. Or you can plan on spending more money in a few years to remove the tint ($$$) and re-tinting the car.

prices...

Thanks for the input guys? What kind of price should I be lookin' at for my 4dr?

zen_master 06-24-2004 02:04 PM

damn, 35%?

NY law.........70% of light....................that's like nothing.

sasquatch 06-24-2004 02:06 PM

70?! Damn! Do you get pulled over if you're wearing sun glasses?

It's not all about seeing out, it is so authorities can see in as well.

As for a full tint on a 4 door I would say $200-$250

ynok20 06-24-2004 03:25 PM

i would say the hell with it and get 5%

jttegx 06-26-2004 07:58 PM

i got all 5 windows tinted on my coupe for 150 w/life time warranty

sedan should round up to 200-220 for a fair price. if over... :susp:

chrisleecool 06-26-2004 08:27 PM

^^^ u got a good deal on it
yea I'd say 200~230 is a fair price for a sedan.
(they'll price ask u a lot first, but don't forget! Window tint prices are always OBO!!)

ImPulse 06-27-2004 12:52 AM

Danman114 06-28-2004 08:03 AM

When you guys get them installed, do the installers do it over the middle rear brake light?

Because to do that they would have to take out the back seat I think just to get to it, and my friend tinted his s4 and he had to remove the back dash for them.

( I just don't like the look of a completely tinted rear window, except for the brake light)

I drove around until I found a guy that would tint the rear light. Everyone else said they could not or would not and this one place aid no problem. I told him he would have to remove the rear seats and all to do it and he said, "That is what I get paid by the hour for." So that was cool.

jttegx 06-28-2004 04:56 PM

i didnt remove my rear deck, nothing at all... they tried their best and prob like 4-5 small bubbles on the tint but its no biggie to me. its not noticeable unless you go up to my car n look hard enough to find them.

jwalker87 06-29-2004 12:51 AM

i got a quote for $165 to tint my coupe. That includes tint across the 3rd brake light AND a black vinyl strip to cover the top of the rear window, since the tint doesn't look good across the "dots", and if you stop at them, there's a line. The vinyl covers it up. Im hoping to get it done soon.

shmik1 06-30-2004 12:02 PM

i just got my coupe tinted, back 3 windows, $150 ($161 after tax) they didnt cover the brake light, and it did come w/ a vinyl strip across the top in the back..

jttegx 06-30-2004 05:10 PM

^back 3 windows for $161, didnt cover 3rd brake light...

does it at least come with lifetime warranty? what kinda tint is this?

MugenRacer 06-30-2004 08:54 PM

I had my car done at my uncle's place, of course for free...and some of my friends paid around 100 to 120. When he was tinting my car windows, he used a plastic comb looking knife to get near the rear brake light area. And I had windows tinted for little over 3 years and no problem. But he said it normally cost around 200 bucks.

Got my sedan tinted all around @ 5% including lifetime warranty and windshield strip, total cost was 140 cash

yeah... the tint i have that covers the "dots" annoys the hell out of me. it sucks that you can't cover "every" little hole and from an angle you can see it. :hithead: having the vinyl covering it up is a good idea

Danman114 07-07-2004 12:40 PM

does anyone have a pick of the vinal? I am having trouble picturing what it might look like.

lxcivic2k1 07-10-2004 04:23 PM

In MO we can only have 35% on the driver and passenger windows but the back windows could be 5 or even 2.5%. But alot of the kids at my school have like 20 or even 5% all the way around, excluding windshield ofcorse.

jwalker87 07-10-2004 10:21 PM

In VA it's 50% on the driver/passenger, and 35% rear of that. But, as with most things in this world, with enough money, you can get anything past inspection.

D5cIvIc 07-11-2004 12:28 AM

dam..i only paid 105 for titanium black tint and a lifetime warranty. but hten again i ddi it with 5 of my friends

Danman114 07-11-2004 09:26 AM

any one know the % tint of our sun roofs?

Canadian2k4Si 07-12-2004 07:34 PM

LLumar makes some good tint. I just had my coupe done for 155 bucks, lifetime warrenty.

ArtIntown11 11-12-2004 03:25 PM

i got 5% everywhere cept the windshield i just got a strip, im taking off my tints though, i might get 20;s but i doubt it....i might as well just get rid of em, i cant see with them....i cant see out ...at all!! waste of my money in my opinion...just dont get em too dark..doh! im a moron....

jwalker87 11-12-2004 10:10 PM

i just got a quote from a very reputable shop today... $90 for 50% on the driver/passenger windows, with 35% on everything behind that (legal limits in VA, i hate my state). However, he can do 20% all around (minus windshield, of course) for $140. I dont know if I'm going to do 20% or 35% all around; ive never seen either but the owner has the 50/35 on his car, so I'll make my decision once I see that. I just dont want it so dark that I can't see/get pulled over by cops a lot.

2K1Civic17"Gabe 11-23-2004 02:50 PM

My car has factory tint, looks good for now, but I found guy who will do limo, solarguard or something, he has different colors and everything, tons of ish. 150 for all windows, plus he will drive to wherever I am, and comes with lifetime warranty. If anybody in Phx needs a tint guy, let me know, ill give you a #.
