3M Experts I used mothers for a while but want to try sometihng different. I bumped into a variety of 3m products and decided to try them out. so far i purchased Swirl Remover for dark cars, Rubbing compound fine cut, Wax cleaner, Wax. Next in what order should i use these products? I was thinking Wash Clay Rubbing compound swirl remover cleaner wax Polish Wax Is this the right order? Next question is I need a polish, im thinking either the imperial hand glaze or finess fininshing material. Any help will be apperciated. |
though i don't use 3m products, here are the steps i've been using for a while with meguiars. 1. nxt car wash (i use the absorber and water blade to dry, and microfiber cloths to apply and remove wax/cleaners.) 2. quik clay detailing system 3. deep crystal paint cleaner 4. deep crystal polish 5. deep crystal carnauba wax or nxt tech wax this system has worked for me everytime! :_bow: |
Use the rubbing compound only if you have any defects to remove. Light scratches, deep swirls, etc. The cleaner wax step looks unnecessary. The wash, clay, rubbing compound, and swirl remover steps are all cleaning steps. Most polishes remove wax. Why clean something that's already clean, and wax it when the next step will remove the wax? http://www.properautocare.com/whatdif.html http://www.autopia.org/forums/showth...siveness+level |
Ok, thanks for your reply. heres my set up. When there are and defects -wash -clay -rubbing compound(Pertect-It II Fine Cut -swirl remover(swirl remover for dark cars) -glaze(imperial hand glaze) -Wax(3m) Regular, when i feel like waxing -wash -clay -cleaner wax -glaze -wax That should be safe for my paint right? And do you recommend dawn to strip wax? or is the compound/swirlremover/clay good enough? |
thanks for the links, so far im on the right track |
Looks OK. I've never tried 3M wax. Maybe you can post a review when you're finished: http://www.autopia.org/review/index.php The PI-II, SMR, IHG are all products that seem to be highly regarded on the Autopia and Roadfly detailing forums. But then again, everyone seems to get mixed results, and it depends on the application also. Just curious. Are you applying the PI-II, SMR, and IHG by hand, or by machine? Here's some tips if you're using a machine, the thread refers to a lot of the products you purchased: http://www.autopia.org/forums/showth...threadid=14213 |
