Brush v.s Wash Mitt

I am buying car cleaning supplies and I want to get a long handled wash brush (guarentees it won't scratch the paint) - it is kinda like the brushes in self-wash booths, but I am not sure if it is okay for the paint. I have searched and found that people like the microfibre cloths and wash mitts. Is a genuine wool mitt better, or just the synthetic ones? Thanks for any info. I searched but found nothing on brushes.

i've been using a wash mitt for years, and they work great. i don't like brushes, they scratch!

I use a mitt either way. Not too sure whether synthetic or wool is better. But don't use a brush. Brushes scratch big time!

mitt !! I heard brush will damage your car over time. So go with mitts. I work at acura dealer, so i guess i can trust those guys.

Please don't get the brush. Wash mit works great.

Brushes are only good for the tires. Use a wool mit. Brushes will scratch over time, and they don't clean half as well as a mit, with the brush you are more likely to miss spots.

Ummm...Sorry guys but I gotta disaggree. If you get the brush that is meant for washing the car, and you keep it clean you will not have a problem with using the brush. I have one, and I have been using it for years. I use it on my car, my fiancees car and all my customers cars. I have never had a problem with the brush scratching any of the cars that I have washed.

I think you are more at risk of scratching the paint when you use a wash mitt. You are just pushing the dirt along, and with a wash mitt, there is no where for the dirt to go....

Make sure you wash out the wash mitt after each use too, because dirt can dry on to the mitt and scratch the surface it is used on next time the mitt is used.

that's why between each pass, i agitate/squeeze the wash mitt to get more suds and loosen the dirt off. works great!
