Any engine detailing offered? :help:

civicdude 10-06-2003 08:53 AM

Yeah do yuo do engine detailing? I do.....I get $25 for a cleaning and then detailing of the engine, and the compartment.

hondaguy2582 10-07-2003 02:20 PM

some ppl don't offer engine cleaning bc of all the electronics in today's engines. However, if your experienced enough to where you know what is ok to use without messing anything up, then go right ahead and charge them a fee of $25 for detailing the engine compartment. And if ya do, just use some cheap armor all since its just going to get dirty again anyway. That goes for wheel wells also.

I'll do engine detailing upon request. I've only detailed a handful of engine bays. My car and other family memebers. There are alot of electronics and what not. For that extra 25$ I'd rather not even touch under the hood. I have a pretty set routine when doing a car. Cleaning an engine bay adds extra time onto the detailing job.

civicdude 10-08-2003 10:46 AM

It doesnt add that much time. It takes me about 20 minutes to clean and shine the engine compartment.

I have been doing car detailing since 1988, and I have cleaned over 300 engines....I used to work for a porsche Dealer and also a Ford Dealer and we would clean the engines all the time.

You just have to be careful. Also never clean the motors in Chrysler Products. I have had a few Problems before with them not starting up after we cleaned them. This is when I worked at a Detailing Shop. We had to take the plugs, and wires out, cap, and rotor and dry everything with ablow dryer....we finally got the car started. I have never had that problem with any other car....

Site is really good. Only thing is (this is just my opinion) you shoulda had a couple more pics of cars you've done. Like before and after shots. Other than that it's really good.

To civicdude: West Islip is like 5 mins from me, looks like you lost a client. I'll still need you to do the engine though. :D
