Tire Shine... which is best?

I buy tire shine from everywhere and every d*mned bottle says that they won't leave a brown residue, and yet.... they still do. I just bought rims and tires and put em on my car today but when i take pics of my car, my tires end up being lighter than my rims.

I want to get tire shine but I'm scared they'll mess up my tires.

Anyone have any recommendations?

NeonImpact 09-29-2003 02:33 PM

i just user basic armorall foam in a can..

it leaves a fairly noticeable shine, and wont splash up on the side of your car.

no problems what so ever.

Maguiars

papi2001civic 09-29-2003 02:51 PM

try the black magic stuff... works good for me

Daniel420 09-29-2003 03:22 PM

I use Maguire's Endurance tire protectant. It lasts a long time and looks good.

as an added bonus it smells like grapes :) but I dont' suggest taking it internally.

Yeah, the Black Magic gel stuff is great! Personally, I prefer the gel stuff over the spray stuff. Haven't tried the foam yet though.

I use the Armor All spray. It works good, just don't spray it on in your drive way it will leave marks. I did it once and now I only spray it on in the street. :)

meguiars gel works the best, but make sure it is dry before you drive off or u will have it on your paint also. if im lazy and dont fel like apply the gel, i use black magic spray, but it doesnt last as long and doesnt go on as even.

CapYoda 09-29-2003 05:49 PM

armor all foam.

thats the only one i've tried so far.

gives noticable shine and I dont see any weird brown stuff.

Snort2001 09-29-2003 06:02 PM

black magic and meguiars both work very well. i prefer the spray kind though..cuz i hate getting that gel stuff all over my hands. and yes i use a sponge thingy the provide, lol.

btw, shouldn't this be in the detailing forums?

Krepoort 09-29-2003 06:19 PM

I used some Meguiar's spray on stuff. Worked well and no brown stuff.

werd. I use the exact same setup.

I trimmed off some of the Eagle One foam pad so the durn thing wouldn't snag on the fender as I go around the tire.

SlammedBlueEM2 09-30-2003 09:55 PM

I prefer eagle 1 gel.

dragin 10-01-2003 04:41 AM

I use Meguiar's hot shine spray. It only lasts a few days, though. Maybe I'll try some black magic.

joescivic02 10-01-2003 08:16 PM

honestly guys... the best ever tire shine is that turtle wax tire wax......... it comes in a box with a pad... omg its so shiny.... it really is the best stuff ever... and it wont spin off either... which reminds me ima buy some more tomorrow... they are around $4.99

02ciVike 10-01-2003 08:40 PM

Maguire's Endurance works great. Its better than the Armor All foam I previously used.

civicdude 10-01-2003 09:50 PM

I use mostly commercial products. Your best bet is to find a detailing supply store or a detailing shop...and buy a tire shine off of them. The stuff I buy is called Blue Blazes. I buy it in a gallon....and it lasts me about 2 years. I dont spray it on, I wipe it on. If you spray it on, it goes everywhere.

The stuff I use is in a clear gallon bottle and the fluid is blue. It also smells like watermelon. It is the same stuff new car dealers use, and it doesnt leave any brown stuff on the tires.

same thing happened to me, now i stay in the street

joescivic02 10-02-2003 07:38 PM

damn civic dude.. i think ima buy some... i love what the car dealers use...

michael_on_18s 10-19-2003 06:43 PM

black magic, not to much or you'll get it on the side of your car

MMILX 10-23-2003 08:16 PM

That stuff does work well. I've got a gallon of the QUIK SHINE from Malco that I don't plan on using because its a little "too" shiny...

Also, the detailer I bought it from suggested using a paint brush to apply it on the tires... :)

black magic gel and use a 3" applicator pad to put it on......make sure the tire is dry first too.

 Wow! Ironically enough I use the same exact set up also..... Whoa! That's pretty funny!

I also use eagle one , when I get the little free tester bottle when buying the (2) applicator pack and it works very well also!

AR 10-29-2003 10:26 PM

meguires high endurance with gloss.

not a flashy gloss though. makes your tires shine like they're off the showroom floor at your honda dealer. not at all shiny, but sleek and long lasting.
