Whats The Best Wax!?!?!?

MOTHER'S RIGHT?

civicdude 08-25-2003 01:02 PM

no!!! Everyone hasa different opinion....Im sure most of the people on this board will say either Meguires or Zymol....I would have to say KIT. It goes on easy, and comes off easy, doesnt leave any powder, leaves a great shine, and is inexpensive....oh and it lasts a long time

Moving this to detailing forum

2k1lxcoupe 08-25-2003 03:23 PM

stupid question but whats the use of clay?.....is it to remove the ruf paint and leave it shinny right?

FALKEN 08-25-2003 04:00 PM

the clay-bar is to remove deposits that build up on the paint

potator 08-25-2003 07:26 PM

The best wax would be Meguiar's Carnauba Wax. No contest.

dragoon 08-25-2003 10:42 PM

i've used meguiar's, and it's definitely excellent, goes on smoother and shinier than mothers (used that also) and turtle wax (bleh). i'm gonna try zymol next, but at $12 a pop, it'd better be worth it.

kjgracing 08-25-2003 11:31 PM

Yup Mothers 3 step wax...makes the car like glass.

SkiLLzSter 08-26-2003 05:03 AM

i use turtle wax...

smoke4 08-26-2003 10:14 AM

meguiar's gold class.

TOOLOWCIVIC 08-26-2003 01:08 PM

I use Meguiars step 1 and step 2 and then I finish off with Mothers Carnauba Wax. It looks shinier to me instead of finishing off with Meguiars but they both Carnauba and both great.

dan133 08-27-2003 10:13 PM

Yep I'm a Meguiar's Gold Class fan too. Fantastic stuff, I've used Mother's carnuba liquid wax and I definitely think gold class is better.

Meguiar's 3 step is good, but I like to do steps 1 and 2 and then finish with gold class instead of their step 3 carnuba.

babylon28 08-28-2003 12:31 AM

I would say you have to get into the professional line of products....
Meguiar's Gold Class is not their top product!
It's maybe their top consumer product, and is a 2 step product because it polishes and waxes.

But I use anything from their Mirror Glaze Professional Line.
And if you want a kick-ass shine with protection, I would recommend:
Show Car Glaze (No.7)
Hi-Tech Wax (No.26) - High grade yellow Brazilian Carnauba Wax with polymers, resins and
silicones for added durabilty.
Check out myride pics to see these products kick ass!

I used Zymol for my car and any other car with paint worthy enough. It's 12.99 for the regular size so when I detail other peoples car's I cannot afford to use Zymol every time. Meguires is prefectly fine.

horatio 08-29-2003 01:23 AM

best of show is good but expensive, i usually use zymol

jjj784 08-29-2003 04:29 AM

s100

webster7 08-29-2003 01:58 PM

Any of the high carnauba content waxes are good but for every day
clean up and to renew the shine (I don't have a garage) I found that
RainX makes a cream called Fast Wax that beats all the others hands
down. It can be put on in sun or shade, does not streak and produces
a great shine. Napa can order it.

This is the only guy that knows what he is doing. If you are using Mothers or Meguiars over the counter local parts store crap then you are paying for junk.

I use www.griotsgarage.com stuff and ps21 which is the exact same as s100. Mother or Meguiars will NOT give you a shine like this
http://www.xceedspeed.com/forums/vie...ghlight=polish
And wax is not going to give you a shine. Your best bet is to polish the crap out of your car and get the paint looking as good as possible then follow up with ONE coat of carnuba wax. Too many coats of carnuba will leave you with a yellowish haze.

The best wax is the one that happens to be used on the car with the best prep. On a properly prepped car, it doesn't matter which wax you use. On that note, I'm a huge P21S fan.

i use clay magic lube and bar and follow it up with Meguiar's Gold Class.......oooooo. :D

VTECTypeR 08-31-2003 10:26 AM

Yup s100 is one of the best. They sell it at Harley dealers

2k3HonCivicEX 09-04-2003 10:45 PM

Mothers is the way to go -- if you havent waxed in a while, i find mothers is really good at cutting grime and whatnot unlike some of the other stuff.. I also like the Meguiars Gold Class Liquid wax.

there is no best wax, it depends what you categorize as best. Best could equal depth and shine, durable protection, ease of product and removal, or a combo of those suggestions. For durability and bright shine, use a polymer like zaino or megs #20, or the klasse twins(most can be found online, but megs #20 can be found in stores). For depth and shine with sacrifice in durability, use #26 liquid wax or s100 paste wax(both can be found locally with s100 being at a local harley shop).
