Transmission taking time to shift Hi guys, I bought a 2001 Civic with a blown transmission. So I bought a Transmission with 80 000k taken from a 2003 Civic. It looks like it's taking some time to shift from 2nd to 3rd gear. I'm really worried about this because I just paid alot for this tranny. What do yo guys recommend? Thank you very much! |
Re: Transmission taking time to shift Are you referring to a delay of a couple seconds in between 2-3, accompanied by a 200rpm increase, before third gear catches? |
Re: Transmission taking time to shift Do you get it when only cold or hot too? It only happens on 2-3" not like 3-4 too? Take a video of it i would love to see. |
Re: Transmission taking time to shift I don't have the RPM on the car and it's specially from gear 2nd to 3rd and when it finally shifts, i feel like someone pushed the car from behind. |
Re: Transmission taking time to shift So it sounds more like a really hard shift? Do you feel the car buck forward as it shifts? |
Re: Transmission taking time to shift Yes I do :( |
Re: Transmission taking time to shift that sucks you should have found a 04-05 trans. |
Re: Transmission taking time to shift That's common, they all do that. Just maintain it regularly and it should last a long time, with an annoying shift. |
Re: Transmission taking time to shift 2-3 is the usual defective shift on these cars. if its slipping, you will see and hear the rpms rev a bit when the trans should be shifting to the next gear, then after it revs it will catch the gear and clunk forward. |
Re: Transmission taking time to shift did they give you a warranty on the transmission ? i would take it back to them and show them the problem and try to find a settlement in your favor. They can't sell you a transmission with a defect, even a used one. you mentioned that you paid lots of money on it I'm assuming that you bought it from a used auto parts business, not from some guy on craigslist |
Re: Transmission taking time to shift I have a 3 month warranty on it but I would probably have to pay like 300$ again to get it changed by my mechanic |
