Good-Bye Civic, Hello Truck what one?

I am thinking about trading my civic in on a truck i am thinking of a tacoma x-cab any comments?

CarbonFly 03-25-2003 02:58 PM

Why? do you have to haul a lot of stuff?

Holhonda 03-25-2003 03:00 PM

no, future wife has 02 rsx-s and i am wanting to put more money in to that then my civic, and because i really want a truck.

Spider883 03-25-2003 03:14 PM

if u are going for a small truck get the toyota.. and if u are getting a big full size well get the toyota to haha

Jandree22 03-25-2003 03:16 PM

eh, imports are the way to go for sweet and fast rides.... If you're gettin a pickup, I'd def say go domestic. They wont be as reliable as the Toyota, but Chevy, Dodge, and Ford have a lot more experience in pickups. You'll get a lot more bang for ur buck in a domestic.

My personal recomendation is either a Chevy Silverado 2500HD or a Dodge Ram Hemi:cool:

Spider883 03-25-2003 04:07 PM

domestic trucks: break more, suck more gas, and are weak in performance.. get the toyota

666 03-25-2003 05:02 PM

Buy a tacoma, it will save you some cash on gas rather than that V-8 the tundra has.

trevor 03-25-2003 05:12 PM

Dude. I sold my civic for a 98 toyota tacoma xtracab 4x4.............
I HIGHLY SUGEST IT.
I just lift 3" susp and threw on 33x12.50x15's........It looks sick as helllll.........
Get the V6, it would keep up w/ my civ easy......and you can run through mud an sh yt.
Go to www.TTORA.com
It's a Tacoma forum.......I'm trevr01ex18s......
Trucks kickasss...... I don't know if there is anything as fun
as runnning through some bigazz mud holes.......
Go tacoma.....Trevor : )

Ram - 345hp 11/14MPG
Silverado - 300hp 13/17 MPG
Tacoma - 240hp 15/19 MPG

I think I can sacrafice 2mpg difference for 300hp in the Chevy, or 4mpg for an additional 105hp in the Ram.

I do admit that Toyota still beats out in reliability, but domestic trucks usually are a lot more reliable than domestic cars. Dispite, if reliability is ur #1 issue, then I agree with other ppl.... get the Toyota. If you're looking for more power tho, there's simply no question that domestic is where it's at:cool:

even though i hate trucks im gonna have to say a F150,250,silverado,or tacoma

rzc 03-27-2003 04:26 PM

why not wait for...

the so-called Honda truck that is suppose to be coming... what year, who knows they keep on moving it back.

anyway, I had a Ram Quad Cab 2001, I let it go because it was eating up too much gas plus it was giving me too many problems.

good luck!

RC

THEANTIRICEST 03-27-2003 07:35 PM

Rock on I like the Tacoma's

slystad810 03-27-2003 07:44 PM

F-150 Lightning!

DarknessOfDeath 03-27-2003 07:58 PM

well a truck is always nice. you dont' worrya bout it too much and when someone pisses you off , you know you can run them over-WELL

PESTLNC 03-27-2003 08:31 PM

Ford F-series all the way. People seem to hate Ford here, but everyone has to agree they make awesome trucks.

moose87 03-27-2003 09:14 PM

Escalade pickup if you have money to burn.

PESTLNC 03-27-2003 09:27 PM

Why's everyone so caught up on the Escalade?! I've been told multiple times it's pure crap.

Mbow 03-27-2003 09:43 PM

I like the F150 series myself. They have a very clean and sporty look. Yes, the toyota trucks have better reliablity. I don't consider nissan if your wondering. However, I think the ford trucks do pretty good in the reliability department. While I am a reliability pyscho, a foreign truck just doesn't sit right in my mind for some reason.

because its big, shiny and well appointed. i don't like it either, for luxury, i'd much rather have a car, and to haul stuff, give me a real truck any day. you can get something just as powerful for half the price.

Importracer 03-27-2003 10:13 PM

my neighbor had a f150 that he put over 800,000 miles on and it was still running strong when he sold it. He had some regular maintance to do but hes a civil engineer and runs around alot in his truck... f150 is a great truck... dont get a toyota or a nissan or any import for that matter just because the lack alot of power!. Also i think their bed capacity isnt as high eaither..

NBPD17A2 03-27-2003 10:16 PM

Get the Tacoma. I had a 1999 Regular Cab 4x4 2.7 5 speed before the Civic I have now. I loved it. If I were you I would wait for the 2004 Tacoma. From what I hear it is going to be redesigned and will utilize the new 4.0 V6(the one in the new 4Runner). Or you can get the current one and maybe install a TRD Supercharger, either way you cant go wrong, Its a Toyota.

LAKAS187 06-08-2003 01:24 AM

Voiceofid 06-08-2003 01:31 AM

yeah, the f150 lightning is where it's at

LJ 06-08-2003 01:35 AM

yeah, F series

NitehawkVTEC 06-08-2003 05:48 PM

lol, everyone says something different. i dunno, i wouldn't get a ford unless it was a lightning, i'd go with a 2500HD, with the Allison tranny. best truck IMO, and it's diesel so the gas wont be as bad asa big V10 truck. GM makes great trucks.

Hefe 06-08-2003 05:51 PM

Get the Honda Element..... :D :hithead:

my2k1vic 06-08-2003 06:42 PM

get the new upcoming f-series or the nissan titan if you want a full size truck. if you want something smaller, get the tacoma then.

askibum02 06-09-2003 02:07 AM

The lightning is the ONLY Ford Truck I would ever buy. Other than that I'd get a Chevy or Dodge. Your best bet as far as picking a truck, is to look at past issues of Motor Trend, Car and Driver, Road and Track, etc. etc. Look at the tests they do when a new model comes out as well as the long term tests. Bottom line do your research. I had a full size GMC that was a whole lot more reliable than the almighty 'vic.

03Eclipse 06-09-2003 07:35 AM

The new Chevy Silverado SS is sweeeet .... Test drove one last week ......

Boilermaker1 06-09-2003 07:42 AM

All I have to do is look in the parking lot at my office and I can vouch for any Domestic truck out there... cuz all the factory guys have one, most are not anywhere near new, they use them as trucks (ATVs, dirt, bricks, firewood, equipment, can always be found in most), others have farms on the side that these trucks are used for and I haven't heard too many complaints about anything other than routine maintainance.
I really don't think there's reliability problems with the trucks... Detroit seems to have that down real well, and I'd have no problem buying one. Don't know trucks all too well, but I know people here at work who are happy with Dodge, Chevy and Fords... I say drive them all and pick.
