your downpayment (lease, finance)

How much did you all who leased or financed your 2k civic put downpayment?

im looking to put $3000 on a used 2k2 ex 5speed or around $5gs if i can wait :susp:

GhettoCivic 01-07-2003 01:31 AM

Sorry for asking a dumb question, but why? I would prefer a new car that you know whats happened to it to a used car that could have been driven *really* hard for all you know. Our civics aren't going to be fast, even the manuals. If you're saving up money for a new car, why don't you get something really fast? A new RSX? An older Civic Si or Prelude? Just my .02 cents....

Boosted2k2 01-07-2003 01:33 AM

Cash, paid in full... all mine

rackness 01-07-2003 01:49 AM

sspem2 01-07-2003 06:47 AM

i put $16,200 cash on my 2002 civic ex coupe 5 spd. PAID IN FULL baby on the spot!:)

blouisgod 01-07-2003 07:33 AM

i bought mine in full before i was a car salesman and I realize it was a big mistake. you should really try to put down as much as you can. that amount will reflect on what your APR will be. Also, ask what your rate will be. Most, dealerships wont give you a straight answer unless Honda (for new cars) is having rates like so:
24mo= 1.9
36mo = 2.9
48mo = 3.9
60mo= 4.9

im using subaru numbers (subaru never offers this so hondas might be lower). but in your case, the car is used so the rate you will get will depend mostly on what you qualify for and what you can put down. so, how much you put down determines your payment amount here rather than in the new car situation. if you need more finance questions answered, feel free to ask. brad

slikor 01-07-2003 09:42 AM

When I bought my car, I put $5000 down, and I financed it for 60months with 7.8% (i think) APR. However, 11 months after I got the car, I paid a lump sum to finish the payments up so its all mine now.

civicdude 01-07-2003 09:59 AM

I put $6500 down and I pay $230.64 a month for 5 years....I got the car in June 2001 and I plan to pay it off before the loan is up.....Probably by end of year if all goes well

BlueFlame 01-07-2003 11:45 AM

I bought my 2k1 LX Sedan in June 2001

Downpayment: $1000
60 Month Finance at 8.9% - I'm getting screwed I think, I hsould probably look into re-financing that sh¡t to save a few bucks
Monthly payment: $325.99

I figure my last payment will come the same month my student loans will come due, so it should work out quite nicely. Unless I get some extra cash and can pay off the car sooner. Hey what's everyone else's interest rate & monthly payment anyways??

astr033 01-07-2003 12:02 PM

$200. I was so po at the time.

artychris 01-07-2003 02:57 PM

Paid with cash. But had to borrow $10k from my grandma.
I just recently paid her back in full, so I just freed up $250/month to spend on mods.

666 01-07-2003 05:18 PM

Paid in full. No need for a down payment.:tup:

vtechin 01-07-2003 07:57 PM

$1000 cash down + $4000 for trade + (403 * 36) = 2001 EX Coupe
For the mathematically challenged that means with interest I am paying
$19,508 so i think I did allright.

dragoon 01-07-2003 09:53 PM

$15500 cash up front. done.

ZeroFighter 01-10-2003 07:46 PM

are you still looking for a 2k2?

Drifter 01-10-2003 07:52 PM

So to all you guys that paid in full how did you manage that? and if you had that kinda cash why a civic why not use it on something else. Just curious.

Getupk1d 01-11-2003 03:03 AM

I could have paid in full but I decided not too. Unlike most users on this forum I bought my car because of it's excellent gas mileage and resale value (as well as it's appearence). I figured into my budget that I'm going to always have a car payment, no matter what kind it is. Plus I'm very cheap when it comes to taking money out of my savings; I would like to buy a house.

part of my college fund, since i got a full ride (and then some) and the rest i'm saving/investing for later. why a civic? why not? i like it, and i couldn't find a white 98 240sx with a manual tranny and low miles.

BaNgCiViC2k1 01-11-2003 10:37 PM

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhh not everyone can afford a new car! and plus buying a new car is a total waste of money, as soon as you drive that shit of the lot you loose like 4 grand, why not buy a car with like 10k miles on it and save yourself some serious money...

atl01 01-12-2003 03:45 PM

No it was a demo car so i got i on the low low
