my friend said urethane, or silicone?

Agreed, get the bathroom crap.

When I cleared my headlights, I used the clear "Liquid Nails". Worked great, no leaks

i used some kinda clear silicone crap...
it provides a really tight seal.. and is pretty cheap.. i think $2 for a tube at home depot... by GE, in a blue tube

Personally I'd go with something stronger than silicone. I've taken my headlights apart twice and sealed them with silicone and there's still some moisture in there when I turn on the headlights. It could just be moisture trapped inside, but, I'm not sure.

I mostly used the black crap that were all ready on the headlights........then a little silicone......

All I used was clear bathroom grade silicone and it worked great, just put lots on because most of it cant be seen .
No leaks or moisture here either.
