Oil Analysis Results-Honda Semi Synthetic 5w-20
 
Got the results from Blackstone on the Pilot. I always use the minder for the Pilot so exact mileage is unknown but I would guess around 8k miles. Car is not driven everyday but does live a harder life idling at the bus stop and getting to soccer practice on time. Oil did very well and could have gone longer according to Blackstone. Used Honda OEM filter as well. Oil minder was at 30%. Car has 145k miles on it.

Overall Honda branded oil is rather good :tup:

Wow, that's pretty good for a synthetic blend. IMO, it seems to be performing on par with full synthetic oil. If you don't mind me asking, how much does this oil cost? I seem to remember hearing that it's around $6 a quart, but I could be wrong. Thanks

Yes it's around that price. I ordered a case off eBay last time. Once I am out though I will probably just switch to a more readily available oil. Amazon oil is actually looking pretty good.

They did find a small bit of sodium which is a coolant marker and it has been loosing a little bit of coolant lately. Was loosing a crap ton but I replaced the leaking radiator and now it looses it at a much slower pace.

Cool, thanks. I use whatever name brand synthetic oil I can find cheap at Walmart. (Mobil 1, Pennzoil Platinum, Castrol Edge, etc). However, I will likely use Supertech synthetic (Walmart's brand) next oil change, which is around $17 for 5 quarts IIRC. Project Farm, a guy on YouTube, tested a bunch of different oils and found that Amazon synthetic and Supertech synthetic are basically the same product and that they perform on par with much more expensive name brand oils, sometimes even beating them.

Yes I am familiar with his channel. I watched all his oil showdown videos lol. That is what peaked my interest in the Amazon/Supertech oil. You figure someone is making the oil for them.
