How long can a Civic redline before blowing (With oil and coolant)? I've seen lots of youtube videos of Honda engines being redlined in neutral with no oil and/or no coolant, blablabla. But I can't find 1 video of someone taking a good engine, have quality clean oil in the engine and the right amount and a good working coolant system and taking a brick to the gas pedal in neutral. Maybe because the video would be a couple months long? |
Re: How long can a Civic redline before blowing (With oil and coolant)? Brick your pedal, and let us know how long it takes. LOL |
Re: How long can a Civic redline before blowing (With oil and coolant)? definetly not months or even days. id say 3 hours tops. on a d16 anyways. b or k series would probly last a bit longer. but after about 10-30 seconds it would have a lot of damage. the first thing id think would go is the bearings. rods would start going too, thats if your timing belt doesnt snap first. everything would be bent up cuz of the heat. the cooling system does nothing when ur sitting still no air going through the rad at redline. |

Because the PCM has the rev limiter, the engine can't float the valves. Could fatigue the rods, or hurt bearings eventually with no workload though. Someone should volunteer to try this. |
Re: How long can a Civic redline before blowing (With oil and coolant)? castrol did something like this on a dyno with their syntec oil and a dino to see which would last longer. |
Re: How long can a Civic redline before blowing (With oil and coolant)? ezone: meh, i didnt really think about that honestly lol. i wouldnt think the fans would be able to keep up though. aparently it takes ~23 seconds if u have a "bad crank" |
Re: How long can a Civic redline before blowing (With oil and coolant)? Lol why are we talking about this?? |
