gasoline tank overfilled A LOT -- any cause for concern?

Today I went to the local Texaco gas station to fill up and I was waiting for the pump to click to tell me that the tank was full. The click never came and gasoline came flooding out of the tank, down the side of my Civic and all over the ground where I was standing. I asked the kid who worked there if anyone else had problems with that pump and he told me that people have had problems with that particular pump not clicking off and that the boss was planning to get it fixed.

Now not only am I mad that they knew about the problem and didn't post a warning, but now I'm wondering if there is any cause for concern. I figure that the gasoline would just evaporate off the car, but I have no clue if it would do any damage to the wax or clear coat. Also, I hear that you shouldn't top off, much less overflow the frigging tank. Is there any potential for damage here? I don't think so but I want to get your opinions.

Thanks

u dont have anythign to worry about as long as u got it off and didnt leave it on there , and if u did all you would have to do is rewax the spot

Just wash it off right away- you should be cool.

yeah, just wash that spot and you'll be cool. don't worry about overfilling, just make sure you tighten the cap so it clicks a few times. hehe.

if u do that often (which u prolly won't) u could damage your charcoal canister (emission control device). so DON'T DO IT AGAIN!!!! :)

seriously: re wax the place where the gas was, or just wash and re-wax while your at it. Gasoline will eat the wax away, even if was just on there for a sec. rewax !
