How Much Should I Expect To Spend For Tint?

I think I read before like $150, some people even said $250 for a good job. Well I have a friend whose bro works at a tint shop so he's doing it for me for $120. Is that a good price considering I'm gettin hooked up? I went to that tinting law page, and I think VA law is 32% all around. That seems a lil light to me. Are u still gonna be able to see in the car with 32%?

aldini 01-28-2002 10:10 PM

I got 5% all around in South Cali for $140. I talked him into putting a strip in the front for $10. Lifetime Warranty, and I'm very happy.

Yes, I know it's ilegal in Cali, oh well

I was quoted $175. Includes all the rears and a visor. Metal film and lifetime warranty. Anything less expensive is better, but it must include all the non fading and lifetime warranty stuff.

Dakker 01-28-2002 10:33 PM

good god, i can get mine done for $75 with 5 year warranty on Llumar tint.... hmmmm and he can do whatever i want

2Hondaz 01-28-2002 10:51 PM

Mine was $120 for all the windows including front strip. Lumar tint, lifetime warranty.

01civicboi 01-28-2002 11:09 PM

i got mine done for 130 with tax and stuff. i got a brand called solar-guard, which also has that nice little warranty

mykel115 01-28-2002 11:24 PM

Mine $3 dollars only I got no tint and Im not planning to install one. Armor all come in handy to protect my interior that's where my $3 bucks go

Aznnp77 01-29-2002 06:31 AM

You guys just got that black tint right? I was thinking about the mirror tint, but that would be too much.

robbclark1 01-29-2002 07:34 AM

Check your laws dude, Mirror tint is illegal in a lot of places. If you want mirror tint you might have to do a fade of mirror tint on the bottom to balck tint on top. VA, I know, is really strict with car laws. Be careful.

UncleB 01-29-2002 08:21 AM

mine was $147 for 15% all around with a lifetime warranty. sometimes I wish I went 5%, but that would be too dark at night for me.

Pongster 01-29-2002 11:15 AM

Spent 140 for my 3M tint, which includes lifetime warranty.

fogbow 01-29-2002 12:47 PM

I know a guy that said he'd tint my windows for a 100ish. I plan on getting 35% front two, and 20% back two and back window. Or 35% front two, and 5% back two and back window. Should look good (=

iamboo 01-29-2002 12:53 PM

i was quote 80 bucks.. lifetime warrenty 15% all around

fraga 01-29-2002 02:03 PM

I got's mine for 20 bucks. My brother does that stuff for a living. :)

Dmitri 01-29-2002 02:18 PM

Is it really that hard to do your own tint? I do see a lot of people with bubbles and such in their tint though... I absolutely would not stand for that...

BAK 01-29-2002 02:32 PM

I paid $140 for my tint, 35 sides / 5 back sides and rear. Try and find someone who can do the back window in 1 piece !

Aznnp77 01-29-2002 03:36 PM

I went with 20% all around. Kinda scared now though about gettin pulled over since I have such a hooked up car. Would a cop pull me over for 20% if it was only the tint? I would think so cuz I got a ticket once for illegal turn signals when I used the stock yellow .

dablueXcivic 01-31-2002 11:11 AM

here is the virginia state law on tinting

1. No sun-shading or tinting films may be applied or affixed to the rear
side windows or rear window or windows of any motor vehicle operated on the
highways of this Commonwealth that reduce the total light transmittance of
such window to less than thirty-five percent;

2. No sun-shading or tinting films may be applied or affixed to the front
side windows of any motor vehicle operated on the highways of this
Commonwealth that reduce total light transmittance of such window to less
than fifty percent

dont try to do it urself its better to get a pro to do it cuz its one of those things that is a skill which improves with practice. so if u try it urself u will probably get lots of bubbles the first couple of tries. but if u are gonna try to do it urself only do the side windows leave the back one for the pro's that is impossible for an amature. i got mine 20% for 160 i have a sedan. sedans will be more expensive because of the more glass it covers.

Crashoveride 01-31-2002 01:10 PM

I paid $200 CDN for the back 3 and it comes with a lifetime warrenty (3-M).
