My journey to the salvage yard.. Pics Added

I have been trying to do a swap from my beige interior to black but it wasn't going to good. So far I only had the door panels. Well last weekend I decided to take out my carpet to get it dyed. So while it was out I thought it would be a great time to try and find some black panels. So I spent all yesterday morning calling all around georgia looking for any black interior panels. Finally I talked to a guy Who said he had several coupes with black interiors but he couldn't be specific since they only inventoried the dash. So I took a gamble and took off work at 12 and drove 2 and a half hours to get there. I went to another salvage yard first but they said they didn't sell to the public(which made so sense to me). Well once I got there I found out they only had 2 coupes with a black interior but he said one was pretty new and should have just about everything I was looking for. So I checked it out and nothing had been takin out of it. I went up there with $400 but i figured i wouldn't be able to get everything I wanted with that but I asked anyway. I wanted all 4 seatbelts with female latches, both rear interior panels, both kick panels and floor panels and the complete center console. He said he would give all of to me for $250 plus tax. So I ended up leaving there with everything I wanted for only $265. Now all I need to get is the black leather rsx rear seat and a black dash( which I already have ordered for $200) and I'll be done with my interior. So needless to say it was a good day. I'll post some pics when I get everything installed tonight.

funny part was when i was looking for civics. They have a guy that drives you around to where the car is. This guy, whos name was doug, drove around like a bat out of hell, he was doing like 60 through the place. Well after I bought what I wanted, i was sitting in the lobby waiting for them to take everything out of the car, since they wont let you go take it out yourself, and I noticed that doug had a flat tire on the truck he was driving. About an hour later I hear a noise and see him fly by still riding on what is now just the rim. That guy was crazy.

There is a good website for looking all of that stuff up. You can search salvage yards across the US and Canada. Its www.car-part.com. Really good website. A ton of salvage yards post their inventories online, so when you search, if they have it, it will be in the search results.

thats great to hear -

one of the first things i wanted to do when i got my car was swap the shyt brown interior for black -

lemme see if i can find you the black rear rsx seats - I have a few connections

only thing is - I have heard that once you take the dash apart and put it back together that it will rattle

that would annoy me to no end -

Yeah that is a really good site. I actually didn't find it til yesterday morning and that how I got the number for the salvage yard I ended up going too. It's a great site to go to for just about anything your looking for and you can narrow it down to either a region or even a state.

Well I put everything in last night and I love the new look. Only thing i dont like is the carpet. I went with vht silver satin dye but it looks grey. I have asked a lot of people what color does it look like and i have gotten grey everytime. Plus I put down 3 coats of rain guard on it and the thing still bleeds. So i guess I will have to just go with the oem black carpet. I know a silver carpet would look so good in there but oh well. I will have some pics on in just a few...

Skunk2ner 07-14-2005 01:42 AM

if you're dying the carpet anyway, i would dye it red like the type-r. red carpet with black interior looks rad.

ciVictoria 07-14-2005 02:16 AM

Looks good man i'm looking for some RSX seats in tan because my current seats are a bit dirty from the previous owner.

I'm going for a black, silver and blue interior. I already have the piece around the radio and ac controls painted blue and i'm getting the side ac vents painted to match. But if I wasnt doing that then the red would look good

clownprince 07-14-2005 08:11 AM

looks good, can't wait to see it completely done

civicdude 07-14-2005 08:14 AM

Like it...Looks real nice..>Cant wait to see the rest of the pics when its finished
