Problems with DIY cleared headlights

Has anyone had any problems w/ their cleared headlights leaking(specifically w/ the seal)?

HondaChic 01-01-2002 03:51 PM

Just use plenty of silicon when you sill them up. Should be fine.

edit: r yours leaking?

No, I haven't cleared em yet. A little nervous about breaking the seal. Nopi used to sell clear headlights, but they only have projector lights now...so if I have any problems, I'll have to resort to buying the stock ones over again.

Just want to get everyone's input.

Just fill the groove completely with clear kitchen and bathroom silicone. Other types of silicone aren't waterproof and cause fogging. If you fill the groove up good and put them back together you won't have a single worry.

Yeah, clear silicone will seal it very well. I used it to seal the headlights, and then ran another layer over the seams just to be sure. Good luck clearing your headlights.

unload those silicone on the lights like you own it(because you do!):)

Just like everyone said, if you seal it good, they won't leak. I cleared mine, and they have been perfect !!

Thanks everyone! I can at least feel reassured now.

Mine are worked perfect the first try...

filled the groove w/ silicone and ran a small bead on the outside when i stuck it back together then smoothed it out w/ my finger...

hasn't fogged yet:)
